We've been coming to Silver for years, many many years. The sites themselves are nice if you're able to get one with a tree. The showers were up and running this year, they'd been down the past couple of years because of Covid. With that being said, nothing was done to the showers in that time. They were covered in mold, paint coming off the walls, gnats everywhere (which I understand is out of the camp hosts control) and the locks don't work very well, they need to invest in dead bolts. I definitely think the showers need some extra maintenance before campers start coming next year.

Clean campground. With paved roads, potable water, and clean restrooms. Friendly hosts. Very beautiful but LOTS of MOSQUITOES. Beware.

Silver Lake has always been a very special place to me since I was a little girl. Silver Lake has always been magical to me year after year. However, this year felt different. There were too many very large groups of people who turned this sleepy fishing lake into a recreational lake which I no longer liked. Very large groups of people put up tents at the lake, like it was a beach, and left their tents out like they owned the place for the entire week. Super disrespectful. These largw groups gathered at the lake with loud music, water guns, snorkeling and swimming, splashing in the water, paddleboarding, throwing large rocks in water while people tried fishing. Basically fishing from the shore is nearly impossible now because of all of the recreational activities along the shore. Silver Lake is completely different than it has been over the last 40 years from when I was a kid. People on boats were pretty much the only people catching any fish. There is literally no more stream fishing which used to be a highlight for my kids. They don't stock the stream anymore. The amazing parts of Silver Lake are still the unparalleled beauty of the lake and mountains, the newly paved campground for excellent flat bike riding, the Kayaking on the lake is always magical and serene, feeding the ducks and fish in the Pond across the street and the insane breakfasts at the Silver Lake Resort restaurant. Personal favorite Silver Lake Special and Biscuits and Gravy with gravy on the side :) I wish Silver Lake was still an unknown , peaceful little fishing lake, but I think Social Media has made it way too popular and now it's a very different type of visitor and almost impossible to get a Spot in the campground 6 months out. Regardless, Silver Lake will always be my #1 Favorite place and it will always have a special place in my heart with years and years of happy memories.

This campground is beautiful but someone was in my spot when I arrived. Luckily there was an open site available at the time.

Calm and peaceful campground in a very scenic setting! The Eastern Sierra rise up near vertical on one side, and the creek runs on the other. The place is neat and clean, and the camp host was very helpful. Seems very popular with families - many children running around. Note that there are no electrical outlets in the toilet, even though there is power for lighting. One of our favorite campgrounds for hiking/backpacking in the Eastern Sierra!
