What Guests Are Saying
Willow Placer Campground offers a clean and well-maintained environment with friendly staff, providing easy access to beautiful hiking trails along the Merced River and great swimming opportunities. While the access road is a long, dusty, and narrow gravel path, the stunning natural setting and serene atmosphere make the trip worthwhile. Some campers noted challenges with parking and noise from other visitors, but overall, the campground is praised for its cleanliness and peaceful ambiance.

I booked a campsite at Willow Creek two nights while exploring Yosemite National Park. The site is about an hour drive from Yosemite Village, right on the Merced River near Briceburg.
The campsites themselves are typical--a relatively flat spot to pitch a tent underneath native trees, with a firepit and picnic table alongside. There is an outhouse on site for the camp, and it was relatively clean. I did not find potable water in camp, but I have a filter, and the river is right there.
The first night (Sunday) I found the campground completely full, and as the campsites are fairly close together, it felt crowded and noisy. Also, the campground is only accessible by walking down a hill from the dirt road. It's a short walk--20 yards or so--but you have to carry all your gear from the car to your site, through the middle of camp.
My second night there (Monday) was better, as there were only a few sites reserved, and everyone else that night opted to stay in their vehicles parked up on the road.

Its a bit of a drive on gravel road, but a beautiful campsite on the river, and not a bad drive to Yosemite NP in the morning.
