Silver Creek Campground is well-maintained, clean, and features a friendly and knowledgeable host, Gunny, who enhances the camping experience. The picturesque location offers great hiking trails and access to beautiful creeks and waterfalls, making it ideal for families and outdoor enthusiasts. However, campers should note the absence of running water, so planning ahead is necessary.

A nice small and quiet campground. The host is friendly, helpful, and does a great job. The restroom was clean. There are bear boxes at the campsites.
There is no water except in the creek; so, bring your own water.

Stayed two nights ( Sunday /. Monday ). Site was clean when I arrrived. Rest room clean and stocked. Dumpster was emptied on Monday morning, so no issues there either. Campground host Eric G. was pleasant and friendly as usual.
I hope the CalTrans work on Highway 4 over the next three construction seasons doesn't make accessing Silver Creek from the Markleeville area too difficult.
Still a shame this facility, which was piped for water on both sides of Hiway 4 is and will apparently remain a dry campground. Take plenty of drinking water ! Also be aware that Red Flag Warnings can occur which will prevent the use of charcoal-powered cooking grills and building fires in the provided campfire rings.
I did note the campfire ring at my Site was 75% full of ashes, which would cause any new fires built in the ring to stick out above the steel ring.

This is a secluded campground about 25 minutes down from Markleeville. There are water spigots but they don't work (and appear to not have for some time) so that is disappointing. Gunny the camp host was on top of things and pleasant to deal with. There are a few trailer friendly spots but many can be a tight squeeze. For this specific site (#3 which is a pull thru), we were able to get our 27 ft (tip to tip) trailer in with minimal issues (there was some bush scraping on the tight turns) but I wouldn't recommend anything much bigger than this. As others have noted, this campground sits on either side of highway 4. Several sites are quite close to the highway with this one being the closest. Thankfully people are traveling slower so it isn't too bad but you regret being so close when a pack of motorcycles goes by. Almost no one is traveling on this road after dark so that helps. Almost no mosquitos when we went and being a new moon, tons of stars were out! There is a nice short trail next to site 15 which takes you down to one of several creeks running through the area. Overall, we enjoyed and will be back to this campground.

The camp host, Gunny, is the best. He keeps the camp spotless. Helped us with our forgotten paper towels and is very friendly. Thank you Gunny!
