About Manzanita Lake

Manzanita Lake Campground (elevation 5,900 ft.) is the largest campground in Lassen Volcanic National Park. It is within walking distance of the scenic Manzanita Lake, a popular fishing and family destination, and offers impressive views of Lassen Peak, the largest volcano in the park at 10,457 feet. The facility is conveniently located one mile south of the park entrance, close to The Loomis Museum, Loomis Ranger Station and popular hiking trails. Educational programs are presented at the museum and amphitheater.

The Manzanita Lake Campground, was a beautiful well maintained campground, with all the amenities we could need. Flush toilets, showers, gas, and a convenience store are all located conveniently near the campsites. The only downside is there are no rangers located at the site and no data, so if you need to contact the park about something, you are unable to. There is also wifi at the museum just a short drive away. Definitely would love to stay here again!

Basically, a pleasant campground. Restrooms clean, showers available, store and little cafe for snacks or things forgotten. Lake nearby has kayak rentals. The main shortcoming in my opinion is the lack of campground hosts, as far as I could tell. At the time of the visit, it was dry and fires were forbidden. However, there was one group that decided to have a fire anyway, creating risk for all of us. Then, late at night, a noisy group came in nearby and kept me awake until 1 AM. If a campground host was nearby and could have dealt with both of those issues, it would have been much better.

Very happy with C26. Seemed to have extra space compared to many of the other spots. Downside was the bear container was close to a neighboring site, which makes either a long trip back and forth when you’re making food or have the stove close to the container (which is what we do) and we end up congregating very close to the neighboring site even though we had such wide open space. No other issues.

National parks just don't have the money to keep up with the amount of campers, I mean, no soap in the dispensers, one stall out of TP, garbage cans over flowing, I don't get it? Even the grocery store was out of common items, I'm one and done.

Went to Lassen for the dark skies and saw some incredible meteors! Manzanita Lake is always gorgeous, perfect place for paddle boarding. The bathrooms were clean and well-stocked. The campground had everything we needed. Amazing experience.

There were so many signs saying you can’t do this, you can’t do that seems there are ten times more things that you can’t do there and not just in the campgrounds but everywhere. No bonfires, no bbq cooking, no dogs allowed anywhere including leashed or teathered to your rv no turning right on this trail no turning left on this trail……etc. It was so ridiculously uncomfortable that we forefitted our campsite( couldn’t even cook our dinner) and went home. Boooo on you Manzanita Lake Campground and Lassen Park!!! Would NOT recommend!!

Cancellation policy

  • Reservation fees are non-refundable. For campsites, cabins, lookouts, yurts, group sites, and similar stays, we charge a reservation service fee of $8.
  • Standard cancellations usually have a $10 cancellation fee. Customers can generally cancel before the check-in date online.
  • Late cancellation rules differ by stay type.
    • Individual campsites: cancelling after 12:00am local time the day before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
    • Cabins, lookouts, and yurts: cancelling less than 14 days before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
    • One-night reservations: a late cancellation usually forfeits the full amount paid, up to the total original reservation cost.
  • Modifications are allowed before the cut-off window, but fees depend on the change. Changing to dates completely outside the original reservation dates may trigger a $10 change fee. Extending or shortening a stay that still includes original dates usually has no change fee, though refunds may depend on timing and facility rules. Switching to the same type of campsite for the same dates usually has no change fee, but price differences are charged or refunded.
  • Early departures may or may not be refunded. At certain facilities, partial refunds may be possible if staff can mark the site available for other visitors. No refund is given for a night if the early departure is requested after that day's check-out time.
  • Security deposits are separate. Security deposits may be refunded to the original payment method if the facility is left in acceptable condition, as determined by the property.
