Manzanita Lake

Arrived late and the ranger at gate had little interest in helping me locate the campsite or offered to cancel the next night. The NP park system employees cannot modify any reservation or help with another. Everything is outsourced. Very frustrating.

Case in point you show up thinking you can access the campsite email and guess what ? No cell service If the NP system wants you to rely on The Cloud then out the infrastructure in place.

Roads at park were closed due to snow. Don’t visit until August as the cool experience here won’t ba available.

Manzanita Lake Campground was generally in good shape and is an excellent place to stay. Only problems: store was under repair and open with minimum of necessities on the shelves. Showers were not open. The lights in the campground restroom had solar panels but only seemed to be on in the daytime. Lights were off at night (when they are needed).

Beautiful camp, great views very close by, lots of shade. Hikes straight from the campground.

We enjoyed our stay. Enjoyed hiking around the lake and biking up the parks highway to the summit. We stayed in Site 45 Loop A. It is circle Pull through site but the trees need to be trimmed for taller rigs. Made parking and exiting the site a bit difficult.

Campsite was excellent, nice and large. Only issue was that the showers were being renovated while we were there so no shower access.

People did not follow the campground rules like quiet hours and arrived at all hours to set up camp. One group of campers in anticipation of a friend's arrival at midnight stood in our campsite at 10:35pm discussing where their friends could put their tent in the neighboring site. She commented how she wished their friends could have our spot. She wasn't the first camper to infringe on our campsite either. Lassen seems to attract campers that do not understand that it's impolite to come into someone else's campsite.
Loop C was also extremely smoky. Too many campfires burning late into the night. I came home with a sinus infection.
I won't be back. Lassen is far from home. It made me better appreciate the national parks that I have in my own backyard where the folks mostly follow campground rules and more considerate of others.

The campsite was very close to other campsites, that were loud and stayed up late (past midnight). Even though the campground was fully reserved there were plenty of empty campsites that would have been more preferable. We spoke to a person who worked at the campground and they said we could not change campsites. I feel like there should be a change in policy that prevents people from booking campsites and not showing up.

Crowded with little space between campsites. Firepit and bear box contained trash when we arrived. The lake is beautiful with a walkable perimeter and kayaks for rent. No showers--the camp store showers are out of commission this summer.
