We stayed in site A10 for 5 nights around July 4th in a 16' Basecamp. The campground was less than 3/4 full the whole time. The sites are large and well separated. The $13 rate includes the NPS 50% senior discount. Most of the sites are shaded among tall pines, some deep all day shade, some morning, and some afternoon. A few have all day sun. We did not bring our generator, expecting our roof solar to keep the batteries charged. But we had deep all day shade and had to sit in the visitor center parking lot for a couple hours on our third day. The whole campground, all loops, has a slight south to north slope - higher towards Lassen and lower towards the lake. It can be hard to level, especially with a side to side slope. All that said, we had a very nice stay and will go again.
We walked around looking for sites with less slope. Judging just by eye:
A: 2, 3, 4, 11, 16, 18, 22, 29, 37
B: 2, 16, 37, 46
C: 1, 11, 15, 21, 28, 41, 44

I really enjoyed camp here, and I got luck because all the site were taken except this one for the weekend… but then I got there. Half the campground was empty the whole weekend. They need to fix this problem where all sites are booked and paid for but no one shows up.

Lassen National Park is majestic and seemingly untouched by the throngs of crowds that haunt many other state parks. The Manzanita Lake campground is well positioned and nicely maintained. The campground store could be better stocked and more high quality toilet paper is definitely needed!

Stayed three nights in C21. A little sloped for our two tents, but one would be perfect. Kind of close to the site on our left. Unfortunately somebody left a plastic water bottle behind.
Several anthills but the ants never troubled us. Yellow jacket traps in the trees worked. Very few mosquitos. Comfortable temps during the day and delightfully chilly at night. Showers hot with good pressure and no time limits; you pay a $5 use fee for your whole stay. Camp store staff friendly and helpful; pointed us to a place nearby to get wood when theirs ran empty. Also gave us good directions to Burney Falls—HIGHLY recommend as a side trip!
Bathrooms adequate, but no lights. Can get messy if folks get careless, as happened one night of our stay. Dish-washing sink was helpful. Bear box large and clean. Gas pump behind the store very convenient and surprisingly not charging an exorbitant rate. Campground easy to navigate and mostly quiet. Close to park entrance but not to the big hikes (Lassen, King’s Creek, Bumpass).

Policies & Rules
Cancellation policy
- Reservation fees are non-refundable. For campsites, cabins, lookouts, yurts, group sites, and similar stays, we charge a reservation service fee of $8.
- Standard cancellations usually have a $10 cancellation fee. Customers can generally cancel before the check-in date online.
- Late cancellation rules differ by stay type.
- Individual campsites: cancelling after 12:00am local time the day before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
- Cabins, lookouts, and yurts: cancelling less than 14 days before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
- One-night reservations: a late cancellation usually forfeits the full amount paid, up to the total original reservation cost.
- Modifications are allowed before the cut-off window, but fees depend on the change. Changing to dates completely outside the original reservation dates may trigger a $10 change fee. Extending or shortening a stay that still includes original dates usually has no change fee, though refunds may depend on timing and facility rules. Switching to the same type of campsite for the same dates usually has no change fee, but price differences are charged or refunded.
- Early departures may or may not be refunded. At certain facilities, partial refunds may be possible if staff can mark the site available for other visitors. No refund is given for a night if the early departure is requested after that day's check-out time.
- Security deposits are separate. Security deposits may be refunded to the original payment method if the facility is left in acceptable condition, as determined by the property.
