About Manzanita Lake

Manzanita Lake Campground (elevation 5,900 ft.) is the largest campground in Lassen Volcanic National Park. It is within walking distance of the scenic Manzanita Lake, a popular fishing and family destination, and offers impressive views of Lassen Peak, the largest volcano in the park at 10,457 feet. The facility is conveniently located one mile south of the park entrance, close to The Loomis Museum, Loomis Ranger Station and popular hiking trails. Educational programs are presented at the museum and amphitheater.

What a gorgeous campground with so many amenities! We came here with our two toddlers and loved walking around. Bathrooms were very clean, staff was friendly. It was busy but did not feel crowded. We loved having access to the store as well as being able to walk down to the lake and rent some kayaks. A lovely campground - would absolutely recommend and would stay here again!

Site C29 is a drive through site that's fairly unlevel if that is important. There is a lot of space for tents and is mostly shaded. The park did not appear to have a campground host or much Ranger supervision. The results of this included a number of dogs off a leash and sites with more than the allowed allotment of vehicles, tents and people. The camp store was within easy walking distance, and it had a laundry, showers and some prepared food. The visitor center near the campground was informative. There was a newer larger visitor center on the other side of the park. The signage for self-registration should be changed if they are going to stay with on-line as it is confusing to visitors.

Cancellation policy

  • Reservation fees are non-refundable. For campsites, cabins, lookouts, yurts, group sites, and similar stays, we charge a reservation service fee of $8.
  • Standard cancellations usually have a $10 cancellation fee. Customers can generally cancel before the check-in date online.
  • Late cancellation rules differ by stay type.
    • Individual campsites: cancelling after 12:00am local time the day before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
    • Cabins, lookouts, and yurts: cancelling less than 14 days before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
    • One-night reservations: a late cancellation usually forfeits the full amount paid, up to the total original reservation cost.
  • Modifications are allowed before the cut-off window, but fees depend on the change. Changing to dates completely outside the original reservation dates may trigger a $10 change fee. Extending or shortening a stay that still includes original dates usually has no change fee, though refunds may depend on timing and facility rules. Switching to the same type of campsite for the same dates usually has no change fee, but price differences are charged or refunded.
  • Early departures may or may not be refunded. At certain facilities, partial refunds may be possible if staff can mark the site available for other visitors. No refund is given for a night if the early departure is requested after that day's check-out time.
  • Security deposits are separate. Security deposits may be refunded to the original payment method if the facility is left in acceptable condition, as determined by the property.
