About Manzanita Lake

Manzanita Lake Campground (elevation 5,900 ft.) is the largest campground in Lassen Volcanic National Park. It is within walking distance of the scenic Manzanita Lake, a popular fishing and family destination, and offers impressive views of Lassen Peak, the largest volcano in the park at 10,457 feet. The facility is conveniently located one mile south of the park entrance, close to The Loomis Museum, Loomis Ranger Station and popular hiking trails. Educational programs are presented at the museum and amphitheater.

Beautiful lake! Great camp store. I didn't use the bathrooms so I don't know what those were like. Very quiet campground in the tent-only loop, way better than summit lake north and south crowd wise.

Just be aware that there are BATS, and they like INSECTS, and insects like LANTERNS. So turn your lanterns off before the sun goes down otherwise you WILL have bats dive-bombing your campsite!!! We found this out the hard way. Funniest and most terrifying situation to be in for the first time! They are silent but you hear the little flaps of their wings as they zip by.

Campsites were big and well kept. If you did not feel like cooking, lots of food options at the camp store. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Definitely plan on camping here again.

I stayed at this campground on labor day weekend and it was a horrible experience by the other campers. Several parties did not adhere to quiet hours. It felt like a bachelor party in someone's backyard, rather than staying at a national park. In addition, several families arrived late at night and also did not tend to their children letting them run around yelling while they set up camp. There are 4 loops, and a very large camp ground. Each loop has one bathroom and one water source. I will not be staying at this campground again, and advise others to stay at smaller campgrounds.

Cancellation policy

  • Reservation fees are non-refundable. For campsites, cabins, lookouts, yurts, group sites, and similar stays, we charge a reservation service fee of $8.
  • Standard cancellations usually have a $10 cancellation fee. Customers can generally cancel before the check-in date online.
  • Late cancellation rules differ by stay type.
    • Individual campsites: cancelling after 12:00am local time the day before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
    • Cabins, lookouts, and yurts: cancelling less than 14 days before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
    • One-night reservations: a late cancellation usually forfeits the full amount paid, up to the total original reservation cost.
  • Modifications are allowed before the cut-off window, but fees depend on the change. Changing to dates completely outside the original reservation dates may trigger a $10 change fee. Extending or shortening a stay that still includes original dates usually has no change fee, though refunds may depend on timing and facility rules. Switching to the same type of campsite for the same dates usually has no change fee, but price differences are charged or refunded.
  • Early departures may or may not be refunded. At certain facilities, partial refunds may be possible if staff can mark the site available for other visitors. No refund is given for a night if the early departure is requested after that day's check-out time.
  • Security deposits are separate. Security deposits may be refunded to the original payment method if the facility is left in acceptable condition, as determined by the property.
