About Manzanita Lake

Manzanita Lake Campground (elevation 5.9 ft.) is the largest campground in Lassen Volcanic National Park. It is within walking distance of the scenic Manzanita Lake, a popular fishing and family destination, and offers impressive views of Lassen Peak, the largest volcano in the park at 10.5 ft. The facility is conveniently located one mile south of the park entrance, close to The Loomis Museum, Loomis Ranger Station and popular hiking trails. Educational programs are presented at the museum and amphitheater.

We stayed in site C-18. A very nice campsite, very spacious. The parking pad was just big enough for our 24 ft trailer and our Chevy Tahoe. It worked but was a snug fit. We loved our stay at the Manzanita Lake campground! Appreciated being able to buy gasoline, ice, firewood and other stuff at the store.

It was an inconvenient experience in many ways. Using the dump station was a hassle, and the restrooms were unpleasant, too... It’s not a place I’d want to visit again.

It is a beautiful campground. Most of the sites appear not to be able to accommodate a very large rv. Out fifth wheel is 29’ft and it was a tight squeeze. Site C19 and the one right next to it were pull through and we were right on top of each other. When we asked the store about changing sites, the said the only way to do it was online There is no internet at the campground. Or cell service to make a call Unfortunately, the campground was at least if not half empty for the three nights we stayed. The camp host was great. Lassen park is beautiful. I would recommend being very selective about the site size.

Besides the small spot and the disruption of the group, it was a nice quiet campground with deer going through camp. Golden mantles and chipmunks In abundance to watch. The hike to Manzanita Lake very easy.

Huge campground with many spaces and little screening yet perhaps because all the sites weren't booked and the sites were nicely spaced it felt fine. The site is a good bit on an incline. Though sites are small in general. Great to walk around the lake... not to be missed!!

Great campground, especially the D-loop which is tent only. D15 is close to D17 but neighbors were all considerate and everyone got to enjoy being there. There is some shade and some sun depending on the time of the day. The facilities are dated but well maintained and we did appreciate the dish washing station too. Water spigot was not close so be sure to bring some water jugs so you have some near your site.

Nice last minute weekday booking at Manzanita Lake campground. Well appointed sites of ample size. The camp host was friendly and informative. It was a bit frustrating to have to drive out to the main road by the visitor's center to book the site, but we understand there is no wi-fi or cell signal in the campground.

Cancellation policy

  • Reservation fees are non-refundable. For campsites, cabins, lookouts, yurts, group sites, and similar stays, we charge a reservation service fee of $8.
  • Standard cancellations usually have a $10 cancellation fee. Customers can generally cancel before the check-in date online.
  • Late cancellation rules differ by stay type.
    • Individual campsites: cancelling after 12:00am local time the day before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
    • Cabins, lookouts, and yurts: cancelling less than 14 days before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
    • One-night reservations: a late cancellation usually forfeits the full amount paid, up to the total original reservation cost.
  • Modifications are allowed before the cut-off window, but fees depend on the change. Changing to dates completely outside the original reservation dates may trigger a $10 change fee. Extending or shortening a stay that still includes original dates usually has no change fee, though refunds may depend on timing and facility rules. Switching to the same type of campsite for the same dates usually has no change fee, but price differences are charged or refunded.
  • Early departures may or may not be refunded. At certain facilities, partial refunds may be possible if staff can mark the site available for other visitors. No refund is given for a night if the early departure is requested after that day's check-out time.
  • Security deposits are separate. Security deposits may be refunded to the original payment method if the facility is left in acceptable condition, as determined by the property.
