Summit Lake North is praised for its great location within Lassen National Park, offering scenic views, easy access to hiking trails, and a beautiful lake for swimming. The campground is well-maintained with clean bathrooms and a peaceful atmosphere, making it a favorite for visitors seeking a relaxing camping experience. However, some sites are closely spaced and lack shade, which may affect privacy and comfort.

I love this campground. It’s smaller and more peaceful than Summit Lake South and definitely more than Lake Manzanita. Sites are relatively small and there’s not a lot of privacy, but lake access is easy. I had a good view of the lake from my site, and it was a very short walk to the lake. Good shade. Mt Lassen is visible from the campground. Bathrooms were clean and convenient to my site. I’m definitely coming back to this campground and staying longer.

The website fails to communicate clearly important details about the status of the driveway. There was a significant slant/grade to the driveway. We were not able to level the RV. We were only able to get it to 3% on the level reader (front to back). To adjust we had to completely change how we slept in the RV. I wish the campgrounds would do a more thorough job of providing these details. Overall even though the campground was cramped with sites being too close to each other it was relatively quiet. We did end up leaving a day/night early & stayed at the south entrance. They were charging $10 to stay overnight in the visitor center parking lot since the campground down there was under construction. Much more level. Much less crowded. Beautiful night sky viewing!

Campsites near the lake are a bit noisy on the weekends due to the number of people using the day use parking nearby, but much more peaceful away from the lake shore and on weekdays.

Too bad the fire was all around the campground but it was a nice place to stay. Facilities in good condition and sites are far enough apart from each other.

Perfectly located in the middle of the park with an easy-access lake. The bathrooms were clean but no lighting so bring your headlamps.

There is not a level site to be found in Summit Lake North or South. If you've ever slept in a tent on a slant, you know what I'm talking about. No fun. I had site B19 in Summit Lake North. I do not recommend this site at all. No level ground. There is literally a v-shaped driveway. You have side of the v, the site next door has the other side. The night I stayed, there was a small SUV parked in the site, immediately next to the bear box for my site. It took me a while to figure out that the bear box was for my site, not there's, that's how close they were. The only saving grace was that there were flush toilets. I do not believe Summit Lake South has flush toilets, but don't quote me on that.
