What Guests Are Saying

Rocky Rest Campground offers a fantastic swimming spot and great access to the river, making it ideal for water activities and hiking. Campsites are clean, well-maintained, and provide beautiful views, especially from site #7. However, visitors should be prepared for significant mosquito activity and some road noise, which can detract from the overall experience.

I booked site 6 and someone else was already camping at the site. He wouldn't leave because he claimed it was "first come first serve". We had to take another spot, which was stressful. Beware that there's no regulation of bookings and you're not guaranteed your site.

We love Rocky Rest. My family and I have gone for the past few years. We always have a specific site in mind, but all are good. Such a great location where it is peaceful and easy access to the water. A nice hike is available too. One suggestion to all.. don’t forget the mosquito spray!!

We LOVED it here. It was close to the highway but the traffic noise didn't both us. We liked such close access to the bridge to cross the river. We also had a beautiful site with amazing views.

We love the view from site #7, it has the best view in the whole campground. There is only one vault toilet for the whole campground but we never have trouble with it. Would have given it the highest rating but this last trip we had helicopter logging being done that started every single day at 6:30am and lasted til 3pm-4pm. Then they came to remove the fish turbine and blocked the entire road in the campground that lead to the vault toilet from about 10am-3pm.

Great camping sites (flat, clean, location) and easy river access. Bathrooms were cleaned each morning by the camp host (note camp host is one campsite down, not at rocky rest).

This isn't the place to go if you just want to hang out at your campsite. Sites are small and close together. Road noise is significant. Lots and lots and lots of mosquitos in the evening.
However, the swimming spot at the river is absolutely fantastic. Bring floats. There are some really cute water snakes hanging out along the rocky north shore, and crawdads in the shallows. The north yuba trail is also nice and has some good river access spots if you're looking for solitude.
