All campgrounds deserve all of the stars and this one does too. It's the other campers that need to be rated. Zero stars for them. Super loud people. We heard large parties that were so far from us we could not even see them from our campsite. And please respect the number of cars per campsite. Shame. Have some respect for other people who are trying to get away and have a quiet relaxing weekend away.

Oak Grove was quiet, not too busy in January and is dog friendly. I enjoyed taking the oak grove trail which is just across the street, it is a beautiful and also a steep hike. Totally worth it, even though I only made it half way!
I stayed in spot 061, it was a very easy walk to to the hiking trails and easy to drive out as it is right near the exit. Not every camp site is made equally, some were very well hidden and others are right along the driving path. I may try for different camp spots for the privacy and less chance of my dog being close to the road when people are driving out.
Overall, great area, nice host and generally calm area. The bathrooms were clean and there were plenty, water access was available and at multiple areas, no firewood available during this time, which was fine as I brought my own. It was very nice how very site had its own fire pit, grill and picnic table.
Surrounding brush contains cactus and spikey plants, watch out for this with your dogs and kids. I got pricked while setting up my tent, but it was fine after that. Coyotes are prevalent in this area, keep your small pets close and keep them close, leashed and in sight.

The site was clean, well maintained, and we weren't right next to our next-door neighbours. The facilities are basic but clean and functional. The site is close to some great hiking. What more could we ask for?

I always enjoy this campground. Great native plants and critters to observe. This time I even got a nice welcome from the camp host and his dog. They were working right by my favorite site.
