Not bad for a first time camping with kids..
although there were really a lot of red ants on our campsite (Oak loop#6) and tons of fly (that went away as the sun goes down) its a pretty good experience. The camp host greeted us as we were setting up our tents. It can be really hot at the campsite during summer. And at night you can hear the coyotes howling nearby.

Love this campsite. Very clean and we had a nice spot to put our tent and pull our car in. Just be prepared to be eaten alive by flies. As soon as we started cooking, a huge CLOUD of flies gathered and didn't leave for most of the time we were hanging around.

Site 20 is great. Lots of shade. This site backs up to private property so it feels very large. The neighbors have cows and dogs but they do not bother you at all. The cows come by and say hello. The rooster on the private property can be heard in the morning so for those who are more sensitive, I would recommend ear plugs. The stars and the Milky Way are the brightest I have ever seen in Southern California. If you're a star gazer, this is one of the best campsites for it (Ribbon Wood Loop has no tree cover). The bathrooms are very clean and the camp host Rick is awesome and helpful. Its worth the drive for the quiet, dark campground. Enjoy!

Private sites where you can’t see any other campers. Not a lot of exciting nature and you can hear the highway and industrial sounds. Bathrooms with flush toilets were clean.
However, this is definitely a party site. People were gathering even during a pandemic and we heard people legit fighting with each other Saturday night around 11pm.
Overall, great for a quick trip but not for a full escape from the city.

We loved site #12. When we pulled up, we thought, THIS IS IT?!?! Our tent would need to be practically on top of the firepit. But the host told us to follow the little path through some bushes and behold....there was a small clearing under a huge tree and next to a fenced off field. It was insanely hot that weekend but we didn't know it because the tree kept our tent perfectly shaded and cool. Large cows grazed on the other side of the fence. During breakfast one morning, wild turkey came right to our site and ate berries off the bushes. Oh and the stars!!!! What a sky!
Downsides: The bathroom was kind of gross and by the end of the weekend the dumpsters were OVERFLOWING. No wood for sale on site. We had to drive a few miles down the road to buy some.
