It was super hot and our space didn’t have much shade but we still had a good time. The bathrooms were very clean with the exception of one stall. The host was very kind. We had a lot of ants :(

A great campground, with plenty of space between sites and significant tree coverage to provide shade. The Camp Host, Rick, was great. He is a super friendly guy and can be seen cruising through making sure restrooms are cleaned, and that guests are doing ok. Bathrooms are standard camp toilets, you can hear coyotes at night, and crickets and bugs chirping away at night. Minimal vehicle traffic along the road, and there is easy access to a ton of trails. It is a scenic 45 minute drive to Julian, and about 20 minutes to the PCT for some awesome trails. Palomar Mountain offers plenty of hiking and truck trails with-in 15 minutes of the campsite, including a really awesome trail that starts across the street. Will definitely stay here again.

went during a heat wave (August 13-15) but came prepared. beware of the fire-ants and lots of flies - host is amazingly nice and site 056 is a great setup for groups of 10+

Not bad for a first time camping with kids..
although there were really a lot of red ants on our campsite (Oak loop#6) and tons of fly (that went away as the sun goes down) its a pretty good experience. The camp host greeted us as we were setting up our tents. It can be really hot at the campsite during summer. And at night you can hear the coyotes howling nearby.
