The camp hosts were really awesome. I made a mistake in the reservation but they help us anyway. The creek is a perfect sound to fall asleep!

We arrived on a Monday when there weren't many reservations. The campground host was kind enough to offer us a better campsite...it was fantastic! We had a most peaceful and beautiful experience...sitting/meditating by the stream, hiking the area, and staying warm by the evening fire. We would definitely return.

We visited for Thanksgiving weekend. The camp host were really nice and helped us with all info for places around. They also moved us to a better spot as one opened up. The place is really nice and the toilets are really well maintained!

This is a family friendly campground. The sites are well-maintained and for the most part are fairly large. I don’t know to what extent the camp host intervenes, but one family was playing recorded music until 10pm while I was there. Luckily it was folk music and adjacent campers seemed to tolerate it. Lots of trees which is good for a hammock camper like me! That also helps when summer camping (lots of shade)! This campground is next to the highway, and if you’re one of the unlucky few campers to get a site next to it, expect the bright headlights and loud motor cycles to buzz by occasionally.
Overall, a fun place to camp

The location is such a short distance from LA and it makes you feel you are in a totally different world. The Camp is being maintained and kept meticulously clean in daily bases. The staff is very friendly and at the same time very strict about the rules. The campsites are reasonably apart from each other so you have complete privacy. For the past two times we had camped there we have not seen any disturbing act from any of the guests. The stream running through the campground gives it even a nicer feeling, which is kind of rare, especially for us who live in LA and dealing with water shortage all the time. Altogether, this spot is a very convenient place for a short getaway.

It was our first time visiting Wheeler Gorge and we reserved campsites 51 and 52. We loved them! You get beautiful views of the mountain, creek access, and just the right amount of privacy.
