Orland Buttes

Avoid Site #10. It is essentially an unlevel patch of dirt stranded in the middle of an asphalt parking loop. The picnic table was unusable, caked in thick, sticky tree sap from the overhead branches. Camp etiquette was also lacking—our neighbors ran a generator straight through quiet hours and were dismissive when politely asked to shut it off.
As for facilities, none of the flush restrooms were operational during our stay (though this was at least flagged in advance during booking).
The sole redeeming quality is the scenery: the elevated view of the lake is genuinely majestic. If you book here, carefully inspect individual site reviews and aim exclusively for a spot with a direct lake view rather than an interior lot.

The campsite was excellent, with blue oaks framing a view of the lake. At dusk, coyotes howled around the valley, at night, I could hear owls and what I’m guessing were foxes. At dawn, the ducks and woodpeckers woke and it was neat to hear their chatter as the sun brought color to the tips of the trees.

Less than ideal: The lake was further from the campsites than I realized, and the ground was quite hard and rocky—too hard to drive tent stakes into. There was a family there who yelled at each other the whole time and played music at a deafening volume. I was in a different loop but the sound really carried. Someone had left diapers in the sink of the port-potties, despite there being a dumpster 20 ft away.

Lovely lake in the valley. It can get very hot in the summer months. We like it there during weekdays, when it is less crowded.

Really liked the place for being so quite and easy to book, access and set up our tents

There were no Flush restrooms in the campground and they have been out of service apparently for quite a while. There were. some pros-a-pottys at the boat launch but not in the campground. The Recreation.gov site did not have any alerts that the sanitation system was shutdown. We left as we did not have close access to sanitation facilities

Had plenty of space on site. The toilets were not in use so we had to drive to the porta potties which were placed near the lake and the group site is at the beginning of the camp entrance. No big deal cause they were very clean and well stocked. There were more than enough tables on site so no one had to pack one. My group went the weekend before july 4th so it was very quiet. Please be mindful that if blue algae is present at the lake it was not safe for pets to swim. This campsite has a boat dock and doesn’t have a direct beach for swim access. We had plenty of service on our phone in case of emergency. There is currently no host on site. Overall 8/10 site for my group. Stay safe and happy camping

A little gem

The portapotties were not taken care of and up all night due to people doing karaoke till 4am.

A very nice campground w great views of the lake and good selection of campsites of differing character. The campgeound needs funds to fix bathrooms and showers. Having only porta potties is really unaccetable, and they are not even located anywhere near the canpground. Staff is friendly and does an excellent job of patroling the campground and area.

Was great! Group site was amazing loved the tables and gazebo not to far from water all around great experience and time!
