Many guests appreciate the peaceful atmosphere and friendly camp hosts, making it a great stop for travelers. However, some concerns were raised about noisy campers, the condition of pit toilets, and occasional issues with camp host interactions. The campground at Sycamore Grove is quite nice, although I thought I might be able to see/access the Sacramento River from the camp area. Views of the river are blocked by vegetation, but you can access the river shores from the day use area, a short walk away. The trails are really nice and we enjoyed walking on them.
You can hear a bit of I-5 noise from the campground but it is not overly intrusive. The camp host was very pleasant and informative. However the mens room shower needs repair. I tried the handicapped shower, and it never got warm. The upper nozzle was limp and hanging straight down, and the lower nozzle was missing , resulting in a painful jet of not really warm water. Since I had already put in my coin and was naked, I stayed in that shower and it was not pleasant. My wife took a shower in the woman's side and reported it hot and fine.
Having been to many campgrounds this would have been a 4 star, but dropped to a three star due to the shower. It was calm, and peaceful overnight, the electricity worked, and it's very convenient to those traveling on I-5.

Nice, level campsites generously spaced apart. Pit toilets were pretty bad with no locks on the doors. Quiet even though close to I5.
