What Guests Are Saying
Cooper Gulch Campground features a beautiful location with fantastic views and a quiet atmosphere, making it a great spot for families and outdoor activities like kayaking. While there were concerns about the absence of water, an inattentive camp host, and occasional overcrowding due to non-campers, many visitors still enjoyed their experience and expressed a desire to return. Overall, the campground remains a favored destination for its scenic beauty and tranquil environment.

The was no water at Cooper's Gulch when I was there. But, the fee was the same. Shame on you.
Site 4 is still labeled as a double site and it should not. It's a single site. Finally since the locals know the camp host never comes around I saw a couple from Hayfork stay 3 nights without paying. Two other couples also stayed without paying. I was at Cooper's Gulch 5 days and 4 nights. I saw the host once. He collected fees from the iron ranger but never came through the campground. Overall, I give the host a D.
Even with an absentee camp host an no water Cooper's Gulch is still a beautiful campground.

We had a great time until a group of 30 people, who weren't camping, took over the picnic benches and whole area to get into the water. I feel like that area shouldn't be open to the public, but only to the people who are paying to camp. One of the reasons we chose this campsite was because there are only 5 sites and it sounded very secluded.
Otherwise it's a great spot and we really enjoyed it! Looking forward to our next visit!

Love coming to this place! Very quiet and the location next to the lake is fantastic. The kids had a great time grabbing their kayaks and spending most of the day out on the lake. Hope to get back there sooner than later!

This campsite is normally a lovely place to spend time birdwatching, kayaking, and swimming. The low rating is due to our trip being ruined by a very loud and grumpy old man in site #2.
The disgruntled camper arrived at 2:30am and spent all night having a tantrum. He threw things, slammed doors repetitively, and angrily cleaned his entire trailer. He woke the entire campsite and children were crying by 3:30, so someone shouted at him to quiet down. This really upset him so he set off his car alarm over and over to retaliate. We complained to the camp host and she informed him of the quiet hours. He was very annoyed that we complained so he started his generator bright and early and kept it running all weekend, along with his very loud music. Unfortunately, even kayaking across the lake wasn’t enough to escape the noise. I did not see a single osprey this trip.
Rude campers will not be handled by a camp host or staff, and neither will rule-breakers make sure to do something yourself to discourage this behavior.
The campsite has no water right now and the prices are reduced for walk-ins ($19/day) we paid full price online.
