Mary Smith Campground offers a beautiful, secluded location deep in the woods, clean facilities, and friendly hosts, making it a popular choice for families and outdoor enthusiasts. The location is a gem all by itself giving an experience of feeling deep in the woods while still right off an easily accessible road. On top of that, the camp was clean, quiet, and felt very secluded given the few campsites against a giant lake to explore. The camp guide was super friendly and helpful.

We saw the campsite and left. We knew the tent site itself was small. What we didn't know was that the camp site is perched on a hillside, up about 20 feet of steps. The bathroom was down the road a bit. And views of the reservoir were limited and it wasn't clear there was any access to the reservoir nearby. We went up the road to Ackerman campground and found a much better site. The glamping experience might be different, but I wouldn't recommend tent camping here.

We've stayed at Mary Smith Campground multiple times.
Bring a hammock, bring your kayak or SUP, bring your dog!, and enjoy the peace.
We also talked with the camp hosts. Very friendly and responsible younger couple. The facilities were in great shape.

Great campsite. Small. On the “non-glamping” side the sites are small, but spread out enough to offer some privacy. Even though it lies next to the highway, there’s not a lot of traffic noise. Be prepared to climb some stairs/hill to get from the street to the sites. Access to the lake is limited, and more suited towards launching kayaks and SUPs than swimming. Generally quiet. My only complaint is that the camp hosts had a dog that barked and barked and barked. My first full day at the camp was marred by their dog barking non-stop for three hours, until we decided to find a trail to hike. AT&T had some service, enough for basic texting, social media (not posting), and slow web surfing. I could not send or upload photos.
