Los Prietos

First time camping there. We loved it! My only complaint is no showers! Overall good time.

It was fair overall - the place was really dry, which I didn't expect.

If you’re looking for a peaceful, well-maintained campground with easy access to both the lake and the river, this is an excellent choice. The individual campsites are spacious and thoughtfully laid out, each with its own parking area, fire pit, and grill. Everything was in great condition and clearly well cared for. The landscaping throughout the campground is attractive and adds to the overall relaxing atmosphere.

One of the highlights is the location. It’s an easy walk to the White Rock Day Use Area, where you can access the Santa Ynez River for a scenic stroll or a chance to cool off. Lake Cachuma is also just a short drive away, making it convenient to enjoy boating, fishing, hiking, and other recreational activities before returning to camp.

The campground provides access to clean drinking water, which is a nice convenience. Just be aware that there are no showers, sinks, or electrical hookups, so it’s best suited for campers who are comfortable with a more rustic experience.

Overall, this is a clean, quiet, and well-kept campground in a beautiful setting. It’s a great base for exploring the area while still enjoying a classic camping experience.

Camp hosts were super friendly, bathrooms were clean. Beautiful campsite.

Site are a bit sloped, and our site 3 was in the middle and open to a lot of other sites, not private. A lot of bugs when the sun comes out! Like a lot! Great hosts. Nice to be close to bathrooms. Decent stream within walking distance. Pretty well shaded.

Best camp hosts you could ask for. They made our stay really great. As for the campground as a whole. It is aging. Most of the asphalt pads are crumbling and not great for trailers or RV's. The sites are VERY narrow, and we could barely get our 25 ft trailer parked. TONS and TONS of Flies.

We were at spot 26, literally so beautiful and perfectly located for privacy. The camp hosts were incredibly gracious and helpful and the landscape was breathtaking.

Really great campground. Consists of two loops, the second one having a few more private adjacent spots. Quiet campground overall, quiet hours respected, little to no road noise but it was never constant. A car maybe once or twice a day. Clean restrooms with flushable toilets. Short walk to the Ynez river down the road and a 15 min drive to Lake Cachuma that has plenty of fishing spots, gas station and a small general store.

This place has a lot of pros: nice environment with shade, camp areas are clean, bathrooms cleaned and maintained. Access to clean water, fire pits etc. Cons: almost every camp spot is very slanted… wish they had some more flattened areas to plant the tent and not sleep sliding down, but hey, that’s camping! We enjoy Los Prietos and plan on returning. Easy access to the “beach” area on the river

First time camping here! Despite older reviews; the bathroom was clean by our camp site. And the hosts were so nice! Constantly driving around making sure things were good. The site overall was nice. The trees keep the area well protected from the sun which helped with heat. We were towards the back of the camp site with only 2 campers on either side. Luckily didnt experience too much noise from others but that will be case dependent. The only downside, is that this is on a slight incline. So you will be hauling all your stuff up and down. We personally kept tripping on the fire pit area regardless of how many times we knew to be careful. I would recommend heading over to Red Rock day use to camp to get in the creek. Its a lot larger than the one by this campground. More space to spread out and set up some chairs. Only other thing to note is that there is a lot of poison oak behind the campsite, so be aware if you have children
