The cabin is a perfect base camp for hiking the gorgeous trails in Lassen as well as canoeing on the lake.

Our cabin was adorable and more comfortable than we expected. Based on the info I received beforehand, I brought a roll of quarters, specifically for the showers, but learned the process is now to pay $5 for a code to use to enter the showers. All well and good but I didn't need to worry about bringing quarters. The heater in the cabin worked well to cut the chill at night. The toilets nearest us were pit toilets; flush toilets with sinks were available, though. A few more details about the campground (e.g., where the potable water was available - assuming it was) would have helped. The store staff were helpful and friendly, even if many seemed brand new. Our group all agreed that we would return if our travels took us back to Lassen.

We had a wonderful stay at Manzanita Lake Camping Cabins. The setting is beautiful. The propane heat worked well and we stayed toasty all night. Loved roasting hot dogs and marshmallows over the fire.

Manzanita Lake is one of the prettiest places in California. I love to photograph wildlife up there and hike around the lake capturing the birds, chipmunks, and deer. Last week, I got some great shots of an American Dipper, Stellar jays, and Spotted sandpapers. Osprey and Great Blue Herons were hunting, and of course the coots and Canada Geese were cruising the lake.
Bring clothing for different weather patterns because I experienced sun, rain, hail, thunder and lightning.
