Nice area next to beautiful Fallen Leaf Lake. There are some nice hikes close to the campground. Lake Tahoe is a short distance away via bike or car

This is definitely one of the best campgrounds in Northern California. Always clean and well maintained.

Bear! If this doesn't bother you, great. What might are all the group campers piled into 1 campsite. I think there are 200 spots at this campground and it's huge. If you want to stay at the campground, a bike is a fun option, so are dog walks. The facilities are fine and functioning, campsites clean. The pine trees are amazing and the sound of the wind blowing through them is haunting, in a cool way. Camp hosts are friendly and well travelled - chat them up!
Road driving in from hwy is worn and bumpy. If only more government funds could be spend on campground maintenance!
Tahoe is very, very, very crowded over the summer. It's a bit much for me. I'll be checking things out again off season, and when the bears are catching their Zzzzzzzzz.

clean and friendly. Love coming end of season when limited campsites and fewer people.

Fallen Leaf Lake is an absolute gem within the beauty of Tahoe. It feels like a hidden retreat, offering the perfect balance between seclusion and convenience. The campground itself is well-kept, and the flushing toilets are a big plus. It’s close enough to town if you need a morning Starbucks, but far enough away to truly disconnect, soak in nature, and enjoy quality time with loved ones. Whether you’re hiking, kayaking, or just relaxing by the lake, every moment at Fallen Leaf feels like a special escape.

Beautiful sites and nice facilities. Shower was surprisingly nice and priced well for hot water and good pressure. The hikes from the campground and a short car ride were all exceptional.

Absolutely lovely to be a natural spot, so well taken care of without overdoing curation. We were nicely welcomed at check-in and by the host and I appreciated their reminders to take care of wildlife and lock up all our food in the bear box and leave no trace. As it was a few days before the campground closed, the area was not crowded and very peaceful with very respectful neighbors. My son got to fish in the lake and down the creek. Just one important detail: as he was fishing in the creek, three times there was a sudden rush of water coming down. He is 11 years old and so was able to manage this surprise, but for a younger child this sudden rush of water could be very dangerous. It turns out that this sudden flow of water was due to the dam being slightly opened by the rangers - it would be good if visitors could be warned in advance that this will happen on a specific day/time.
