Azalea Campground

Our campsite (111) was a small walk up the hill. While slightly exposed to the road, it looked much more private than many other sites. Close to the bathroom for my young kids but not close enough to be noisy. Gorgeous spot and you can walk right out to General Grant. Just an absolutely lovely stay and would absolutely go back.

Close to the restroom and water. The restroom is up a pretty steep incline, so be mindful of that. The space is also on a subtle slope, but otherwise good spot

We loved our particular campsite, and the location of the campground is very central for exploring SEKI. But we were a little disappointed in the bathrooms and the lack of camp hosts or ranger presence. There was no potable water during our visit, so we had to boil water. We didn’t receive any notice about this prior to arrival or we would have brought more water with us. The bathrooms were a pretty long walk from our loop, which was doable for us, but might be hard for those with less mobility. We also didn’t see a ranger or camp host in the campground during our entire 4 night stay. Thankfully, folks were pretty well behaved. But if there had been a problem, I’m nit sure who we would have turned to.

Incredible spot! Loved that it was the middle point for the highway for exploring and access. Deer at the campsite, so many squirrels, and a fun surprise glow party parade.

We were in a travel trailer and this back in site has a pretty steep slope. It took some doing to get level. A good majority of the sites have some kind of slope to it. If i was looking again I would find something less than "moderate". Great campground!

There were too few bathrooms for the number of campers there were. Having one toilet as well in each and separating by gender made them even less accessible. Aside from this though the campgrounds were well spaced apart, scenic and easily accessible to the places we hoped to visti while in the park.

Great camp ground high up in the National Park surrounded by huge trees. We were pulling a 20 foot travel trailer and reserved site 52. As we pulled around the loop we realized the site was facing the wrong direction and would not accommodate a 20 foot travel trailer. There was also a tent in the site…I tracked down a ranger and he assigned us another spot (#89), which again, was facing the wrong direction for a back in spot. So check your back in directions when reserving your site. Otherwise the campground is a great base camp for daily adventures. Bathrooms were clean although there was no soap. Bonus we had cell coverage (Verizon).

Our campsite was right next to the bathroom/washing sinks and we had EVERYONE in the campground tromping through our space.

My dad had to abandon his site because online the pictures are deceiving flat. It was so sloped they couldn’t unhitch. There was no camp host or ranger to help and we were on the phone for over 2 hours trying to reach someone at Recreation.gov. We both ended up leaving our HORRIFIC experiences at Azalea and eating the money.

BE WARNED! This campground does not offer level or even reasonably sloped sites. The pictures are not accurate.

Great and convenient

Really beautiful campground. Every part of our site was sloped so it was hard to find a place for our tent. The bathrooms weren't very clean and the toilets were pretty much clogged the whole time. Super close to the store for stocking up on ice and firewood and people were friendly and respected quiet hours. We did not see a camp host during our stay
