What Guests Are Saying
Azalea Campground offers a beautiful natural setting with ample shaded and spacious sites, making it ideal for families and groups. Many campers enjoyed the proximity to trails, visitor centers, and stunning views of the surrounding giant sequoias. While some noted issues with bathroom cleanliness and site proximity, the overall experience was positive, with a strong desire to return for the peaceful atmosphere and convenient location between Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks.

Azalea Campground offers excellent amenities right at the campsite, making for a comfortable stay. The massive bear locker provided ample storage and security, and the awesome fire ring was perfect for cooking and evening relaxing. Furthermore, the main facilities were impressive: the restrooms were clean and featured reliable running water.
However, be prepared for a few logistical inconveniences. The clean restrooms were quite a distance from our loop, requiring a significant walk. More frustratingly, the water faucet near our specific spot was broken/missing, which forced us to haul water from another area. Despite these utility issues, the quality of the main site features made this a worthwhile spot.

The sites are not as long as stated in the description. Getting a trailer or Fifth Wheel in to many spots is impossible even though the description states the spot will accommodate the equipment. Site driveways point the wrong direction for parking a trailer or Fifth Wheel.

Hikes were great, camping was terrible. We were swarmed with wasps at the campground nonstop, we couldn't do anything. They were immune to smoke. We couldn't eat, cook, relax, anything. It totally ruined the experience.

Peaceful and beautiful place. This campground is closed to the General Grant tree, with nice hiking trails.

From Fresno, CA, take Highway 180 East for 1 1/2 hours. Vehicles over 22 feet are not advised between Potwisha Campground and the Giant Forest Museum when entering through Sequoia National Park. Vehicles over 22 feet should use the Kings Canyon National Park Entrance.
Azalea Campground is accessible via Highway 180, which connects Fresno to Sequoia National Park and is approximately 25 miles away.
