What Guests Are Saying
Sentinel Campground is well-maintained, clean, and set in a beautiful location near the river with ample hiking opportunities and great privacy between sites. Campers appreciate the friendly rangers and the peaceful atmosphere, especially in quieter months. While some facilities had minor issues, overall, guests enjoy a fantastic experience in nature.

Site #7 has plenty of shade and is very spacious. It's also beside a nice meadow.

There was a huge group of over 50 people who basically took over the campground. It was very noisy including a concert at night. Is there any way to let us know that a group is in the campground? I came for peace and quiet and got very little

I loved this campground! So close to roads end and right off the river. The sounds were amazing all night!

We stayed at site #34. It was quiet, beautiful, nice shade, clean. We chose that particular spot because of its proximity to the bathroom, water and trash, which was close enough to navigate in the dark and far enough that no one would walk through the site. Plus its a bigger spot with trees for shade. It has flush toilets.
The Cedar Grove area is a little more secluded and at lower altitude than the rest of the park so was about 103 F in July, while it was a few degrees cooler (but not by much) up at Princess campsite. About halfway to Cedar Grove before you get to Boyden's Cave, there is a little concession stand that sells ice cream, gas, and can refill your propane tank.
Plenty of shady hikes near the river. Zumwalt Meadow to Roaring River Falls is an easy and shady hike with no elevation climb and calm meadows. The hike follows the river and is a bit rocky and sandy in some spots. We spotted deer several times near the river. Zanawyer Loop is a different view of ferns and grasses with view of looming granite walls and partial shade. The trail is a little more compacted under your feet and feels more like the forest floor. As you hike toward Muir Rock, you can see golden trout jumping for flies!
The lodge has a convenient little market and a decent snack bar for burgers and sandwiches. Coin-operated showers and laundry are available, although they didn't seem to be open when we were there. There is indoor/outdoor seating, and wadding by the river at the lodge.
Overall, a wonderful experience.
