Fantastic campground! Our site was spacious and we fell asleep to the sound of the river every night. A mama bear and her two cubs walked through one night at dinner time and caused some commotion, which we thought was cool but others might feel differently.

We loved our stay at this campground! Our site was close to the river, which made everything even more beautiful and peaceful. We can’t wait to come back! 🌲⛺💚

Very pretty, walking distance from visitor center and store/lodge, and from hiking spot. Short drive to more hikes at or near Roads End. Area reminds me of Yosemite, without traffic, crowds or noise. Breathtaking scenery.

I loved everything about it, the only thing I could suggest is more photos of each individual campsite and that I wish the showers were open. Also more dog friendly activities would be nice.

We stayed in the park 2 nights and chose this location because its close to the Falls which we wanted to see. The campground is very large with no ranger, so make sure you download the map to bring with you or you will spend a while driving around trying to find your site!

As a long-time camper In King’s Canyon, I was happy to return after a few years off due to the pandemic. The campsites were in excellent condition and all the staffers were friendly and knowledgeable. We were also fortunate enough to get some nice rain that only Mother Nature could plan this late in the year. It really cooled things down! The water temperature was nice, and the rain swelled the river making the fishing a little more challenging.
A side note that, as a long-time camper there, I had my own system or strategy to successfully secure a prime campsite in the old “first come, first served” system, so I was a bit concerned that all sites were now 100% reservation-based, however, that all went without a hitch and we were able secure one of our favorite sites!

.Tire Chains may be required at any time. Be prepared at any time of year for a wide range of temperatures and weather conditions. Check Road Conditions at nps.gov/seki. Vehicles longer than 22 feet (including trailers) are not advised between Potwisha Campground and the Giant Forest Museum. Dangerous Rivers! Many drowning victims were playing near rivers. Rivers present a far greater danger than lakes or pools. Surfaces may look calm, but strong currents often run below. Be cautious walking near rivers as rocks can be slippery. Getting out of a cold, swift river is often impossible. Falling Objects - Don't linger under dead, cracked, or broken branches. Run if you hear cracks or snapping from tree roots, trunks, or branches (know that sometimes there is no sound, and very little time to react). Report falling branches or trees to a ranger. A California state fishing license is required to fish in Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks, and Sequoia National Forest lakes and streams. Fishing licenses may be available at National Park and National Forest markets. |
