What Guests Are Saying
Sheep Creek Campground offers a beautiful and private setting with clean facilities and friendly park personnel. It's an ideal spot for exploring the Kings River area, with spacious campsites and abundant free firewood. While there are some concerns about wildlife and theft, many guests highly recommend the campground for relaxation and nature experiences.

Great campground and very peaceful. If you are lucky to get site their creek, you can enjoy the sound of flowing water. There is a waterfall a short drive from here.

Everything was clean and quiet… Bathroom facility was Adequate and clean… Camping spaces were spaced well apart… Parking area at campsite is only long enough for one vehicle and or RV… I had a RAV4 and an 8 foot trailer that barely fit but they do provide extra car parking in a general area

Whatever entity (hopefully it is not the NPS) manages this campground is doing a poor job. We arrived to find someone in our reserved site. He lied and said that he had reserved the site too, so we were left trying to find a ranger to resolve the matter. This proved to be quite a challenge. I won't detail it all here, but we ended up wasting several hours, and we didn't have much time in King's Canyon to start with.
If you are going to charge people to camp, then the least you can do is staff the campground.

We loved it!
Drove to End of road and on way visited Zumalt Meadows, Roaring River Falls, Knapps Cabin. Also stopped by at Cedar Grove. Bear did not spoil trip-it was just looking for its chow as it walked through our campsite.

Been going to Kings Canyon for 40 years. Only drawback...having to get reservations now.

The location and campground were both excellent. I will definitely be back. Our only gripe was not with the campsite but the fact that some campers did not abide by the quiet hours.

Campground is deep in the King Canyon NP so feels more relaxing. Although a bit crowded, the campsites are huge and some are pretty close to the river. Restrooms are well spaced around the grounds and have flush toilets.

.Tire Chains may be required at any time. Be prepared at any time of year for a wide range of temperatures and weather conditions. Check Road Conditions at nps.gov/seki. Vehicles longer than 22 feet (including trailers) are not advised between Potwisha Campground and the Giant Forest Museum. Dangerous Rivers! Many drowning victims were playing near rivers. Rivers present a far greater danger than lakes or pools. Surfaces may look calm, but strong currents often run below. Be cautious walking near rivers as rocks can be slippery. Getting out of a cold, swift river is often impossible. Falling Objects - Don't linger under dead, cracked, or broken branches. Run if you hear cracks or snapping from tree roots, trunks, or branches (know that sometimes there is no sound, and very little time to react). Report falling branches or trees to a ranger. A California state fishing license is required to fish in Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks, and Sequoia National Forest lakes and streams. Fishing licenses may be available at National Park and National Forest markets. |
