What Guests Are Saying

Boca Rest Campground offers a picturesque location right by the lake, with spacious sites and helpful camp hosts. Many visitors appreciated the clean facilities, access to water, and peaceful atmosphere, though there were concerns about site reservation management and the lack of shade. Some campers experienced issues with noise and enforcement of rules, but overall, the natural beauty and water access remain highlights of the campground.

Our stay was great, no issues with any of our neighbors or the camp host. The toilets were clean and stocked with TP and within 1/4 of a mile from our campsite. We reserved Spot #3 and it was very nice with a potable water spigot right next to us. The spot has tall bushes between the main site area and the reservoir that keeps the wind off your campsite. It's Is spacious and everyone was respecting the rules. The camp host made his round around 9:30 and made sure to make his presence known and to enlighten anyone of the rules if they were still making noise after dark. Spot #2 is a bit close to the tent spots for spot #3 but it was an acceptable distance away. Spot #1 seems to be the best campsite with lots of extra room and water frontage.

A small site but close to the water after some minor trail making. There is no shade so the easy up was a must.
We enjoyed the site, close enough to the bathroom. Camp host was nice with helpful information.
AT&T cell service was great. Recommend a day trip to the rafting company….located on Hirshdale.

Carry a can of bear spray for all the dogs running wild. If you own a dog, keep it on a leash or I will feed it chicken bones, then pepper spray your loving pet

Very pleasant site overlooking the reservoir! CG was full, but everyone was well behaved and respectful of quiet hours. I would stay here again.

Campground is great ! Love the large amount of space our site had (#33) with easy access and beautiful views of the lake . We had an RV with awning so even though the spot had no shade trees it was no big deal .

This campground is not very well maintained. The bathrooms are a biohazard 99% of the times.

The campsite is under new oversite. The camp host (Ben) did not come out of his coach to check the area at all!
Other campers showed up and over ran sites and were not managed at all. The Nevada County Sheriffs office responded to an incident and the camp host never check on the camp site. He also allowed camp fires even though a
"NO CAMPFIRE" Notice was issued.

The location and being right on the Lake was great. However... we have gone to Boca Rest Campground for over 10 years and this year was aweful! The camp host although present did nothing the whole time we were there. When we arrived, someone was in our site, the reserved signs where blank so people just assumed they where all available. We had to personally ask them to leave and wait for them. Then we had other site campers decide our camp site was open for all to come and be at the lake. We had to call the Sheriffs after physical altercations happened between our Nextdoor neighbors and the uninvited campers. The Camp Host never showed up to help us! This was all on the first day!
In addition, the restrooms were not cleaned and no toilet paper during our entire 6 day stay.

The Camp Host was HORRIBLE and should be fired.
Campers beware is all I can say.

There was no campground host. One camper stated the host became irritated and left. The camp ground entrance sign was flat on the ground and appeared it had been there for weeks. There was one 81/2 x 11 sheet of paper posted on the rest room stating the water was not potable and to boil it before use. There were no signs on any of the water supply valves. There was no way to tell if the information was accurate or not. I have been camping in USFS campgrounds for years. I have never seen such poor management in my life.
