This is a small USFS campground along the Lower Truckee River. It is close to Truckee and not far from Tahoe City and Squaw Valley. This is a boondocking campground with about 20 sites in two loops. My two sons & I can get 3 sites next to each other. Summer days are warm to hot but there are shady sites but still sun for solar charging at most sites if you have portable panels. Night are usually cool. It snowed in June last year. The host has been there for several years and is friendly but enforces all rules fairly. While the campground is just off Hwy 89, the traffic is o.k.

Really beautiful campground, and this was by far one of the best sites due to the proximity to the river. Not too far from Tahoe City either!

There is 18 hours-a-day of vehicle noise from CA rte 89, but this campground is exceptionally close to conveniences & attractions (I-80, Truckee, Tahoe City, Squaw, Alpine Meadows), and west side of 89 intersects many forest roads (high country access via 4WD, mountain bike, hiking). Appealing features: 6000 ft elevation, good spacing between sites, big trees, Truckee River, mountain scenery, clean & well-organized this season. For 40 years I dismissed this campground as 'too close to a major road'- this was my first stay, vehicle noise was not intrusive, highly recommend this great spot!

Nice quiet site on the South loop with a short path to the river. Facilities were clean and easily accessible. You could hear some road noise from CA-89, but it was very quiet at night. Even though there was a ban on campfires, we enjoyed our stay at Goose Meadows!

Beautiful campground nest to the Truckee River but also very close to Hwy 89. Road noise can be an issue.

Policies & Rules
Arrival & departure
- Check-in is at 2:00 PM and check-out is at 12:00 PM.
Cancellation policy
- Reservation fees are non-refundable. For campsites, cabins, lookouts, yurts, group sites, and similar stays, we charge a reservation service fee of $8.
- Standard cancellations usually have a $10 cancellation fee. Customers can generally cancel before the check-in date online.
- Late cancellation rules differ by stay type.
- Individual campsites: cancelling after 12:00am local time the day before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
- Cabins, lookouts, and yurts: cancelling less than 14 days before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
- One-night reservations: a late cancellation usually forfeits the full amount paid, up to the total original reservation cost.
- Modifications are allowed before the cut-off window, but fees depend on the change. Changing to dates completely outside the original reservation dates may trigger a $10 change fee. Extending or shortening a stay that still includes original dates usually has no change fee, though refunds may depend on timing and facility rules. Switching to the same type of campsite for the same dates usually has no change fee, but price differences are charged or refunded.
- Early departures may or may not be refunded. At certain facilities, partial refunds may be possible if staff can mark the site available for other visitors. No refund is given for a night if the early departure is requested after that day's check-out time.
- Security deposits are separate. Security deposits may be refunded to the original payment method if the facility is left in acceptable condition, as determined by the property.
Wildlife & food storage
- Store all food in approved containers to prevent bear interactions; bear locker dimensions are provided.
Vehicles & parking
- Off-highway vehicles must be trailered; recreational riding is prohibited in the campground.
General

Fires & fuel
- Campfires and charcoal fires may be restricted due to fire conditions; contact the ranger district for updates.
- Purchase firewood locally and burn it on-site to protect forests.
- Firewood can be obtained from the campground host if available.
Site types & loops
- RVs longer than 30 feet cannot turn around in the campground due to space limitations.
Fees & deposits
- One vehicle is included with your reservation; additional vehicles incur a $10 nightly fee and overflow parking is very limited.
Site capacity
- Each site can accommodate a maximum of 6 people and 2 dogs; dogs must be leashed or confined.
