What Guests Are Saying
Granite Flat campground is praised for its beautiful location near the Truckee River, clean facilities, and friendly camp hosts, making it a popular choice for annual visits. Many campers appreciate the easy access to outdoor activities like biking and floating, and the well-maintained restrooms add to the positive experience. However, road noise from nearby Highway 89 is a common concern, particularly at night, which can detract from the overall tranquility of the site.

Very nice campground on the river. Great location to visit the Donner museum and to hike the Donner tunnel trails.

Lots of road noise and not much privacy. We happened to be there when it was 90 degrees and our campsite was directly in the sun with no shade. I think there are better places along the Truckee River.

Literally on the highway. If you don’t mind semi trucks blazing by at 80 mph at 3am then this is the spot for you! So close to the highway in some spots you can’t hear people speak if they’re not right next to you. Not trying to be a drama queen here but for real this may be the worst campsite I’ve ever been to lol.

Not the fault of the facility.. Problem was smoke from wildfires. Left camp on the 7th instead of the 9th, didn’t take the time to cancel my reservation. However, I did notify the camp host so that he could open it for someone else. The campground itself is good and has been for years. The new restrooms, potties only, are a big improvement. Michael

Nice campground just next to the Truckee River.
Good - easy access to the river.
Good - lots of trees and shade.
Bad - right next to the highway...try not to get a campsite alongside the highway.
Bad - no showers.

One of the very best spots on the 10th Mtn memorial highway. Respect the spot and management. A man who has a hound is ok 👌 in my book. Had some pushy neighbors who had the spot next to us the day before and our spot when we were leaving and couldn’t wait 4 my son and I to leave to move all their crap in. They were nice but very pushy and not very respectful to our time in the spot I paid for. IMO
