What Guests Are Saying
Granite Flat campground is praised for its beautiful location near the Truckee River, clean facilities, and friendly camp hosts, making it a popular choice for annual visits. Many campers appreciate the easy access to outdoor activities like biking and floating, and the well-maintained restrooms add to the positive experience. However, road noise from nearby Highway 89 is a common concern, particularly at night, which can detract from the overall tranquility of the site.

Okay first off if you are staying in a tent you need to know this campsite is literally like 50ft away from hwy 89, and there is consistently traffic too and from the lake day and night. I would say this is more suitable for an RV or sleeping van/vehicle rather than a tent. Many of the campsites here don’t have immediate access to the river unless the river side site across is empty. Honestly this was my first time camping here and personally I won’t be back. Perhaps this type of site may suite someone else’s camping style better, but for me I prefer a little more space between my tent and a major thoroughfare.

We stayed at site 63 with our 24’ trailer. We chose this because it was a “pull through” site although it just meant we parked the trailer on the road next to the site. It was a large site, nicely spaced out from the other sites, right on the river and with plenty of space at the site! Our kids loved throwing rocks in the water and attempting to fish. I would say it’s location was the best part. We rafted on the Truckee river and went to King’s Beach. We even got take out one night. You could here the highway noise, but I think the benefits of staying here outweighed the noise. I would recommend to other campers!

Convenient camping spot just outside Truckee for that quick getaway that's still close to nature. Easy access to the river and most spots have shade. There is road noise but it is right next to Highway 89 so I call that a plus and a minus.

Campground is right on the freeway. Most of the campsites are very small. If you’re camping with dogs, children, or a decent size group of people, get a spot closest to the river. Easy night trip, wouldn’t do an extended weekend trip here.
