What Guests Are Saying
Granite Flat campground is praised for its beautiful location near the Truckee River, clean facilities, and friendly camp hosts, making it a popular choice for annual visits. Many campers appreciate the easy access to outdoor activities like biking and floating, and the well-maintained restrooms add to the positive experience. However, road noise from nearby Highway 89 is a common concern, particularly at night, which can detract from the overall tranquility of the site.

It is a bit noisy being so near 89. It does fall into the background after awhile. Probably not as noticeable if you have a trailer-I was just in a tent. But the location was great, clean toilets, clean sites, and a great river

Our site was beautiful, with great views of the river, but the road noise was quite loud as others have mentioned. Great location relative to Truckee and other towns.

The campsite I had was 30 feet off the Highway. I was worried about being hit by a wandering truck the entire time. The campsite itself was in a pile of rocks and weeds, uncared for and ugly. The Truckee River was it's only saving grace. I never met the host, nor recall seeing them at all. I will not be returning.

This campground is too close to the highway. It was very loud. One could hear the cars over night. Some of the camp sites are next to the highway. The best sites are by the river but even those were too small and close to each other. Many of the sites were overcrowded with large groups. However after 4th of July that changed for the better. Vault toilets smell really bad and after camping for 40 years we know that vault toilets do not have to have bad smell. It just seems that there are too many sites in the small space. It would be nice of there was a wall or trees between the highway and the campground. The river is lovely. Small trail goes through the campsite but all other biking or hiking trails need to be reached by car.

Host was unfriendly, campsites small, hard gravel all over. This is not an ideal place for tent camping.

On of my favorite places to camp in summer. Close to many great trails for mountains biking and a short drive to the lake. The sound of the river gently making its way is a wonderful way to sleep.
