Jumbo Rocks Campground

Great experience! Lovely campsite.

Beautiful campground, I booked site 28, unfortunately didn’t read anywhere that the actual site is down a trail past other sites past the lot, so be aware. I also got there after dark and it was impossible to tell where it was. I just slept in my car but still enjoyed the campground in the morning. Don’t think I’d book that or any of the sites along that trail again but will try this campground again. It was great to hike and climb around on rocks and is just beautiful ! This site is close to a vault toilet, which was convenient. And a close drive to skull rock and the 29 Palms entrance to the park.

I had a good experience camping here. Just be prepared for vault toilets and there is no running water.

I could not have had a more exciting experience. The campsite was well marked with clean facilities nearby. Roads throughout the park were well maintained and sites of interest/hiking trails easily identified with signage.

From fast moving storms, flash floods, and then beautiful night skies it was quite an experience.

Jumbo Rocks is a great campground. Centrally located in the park. Great rock formations to climb on. Clean restrooms. Sturdy tables. Shade is the main factor. The 'long shadows' from the rocks (in the morning and evening times) is what you should consider when selecting a site. Ours was good on both, and privacy from the road and our neighboring site was great! Campsite 89.

Easy to find the campsite after arriving late and in the dark. We had to park parallel to the site, we could not pull the car in. Facilities were well maintained, trails well marked.

Such an unexpected scenery. Kind of how Dr. Suess would draw rocks. Fun areas to hike around Jumbo Rocks. Great stargazing when the moon is down. Staff is super friendly.

I think this is the most incredible campground in the United States. No hook ups but it’s unbelievably beautiful space.

Site 88 is great. It offers privacy while being close to Skull Rock Nature Trail.
