What Guests Are Saying
Jumbo Rocks Campground offers a clean and well-maintained environment with stunning views, quiet nights, and easy access to hiking trails and climbing opportunities. Many campsites provide a sense of privacy and seclusion, especially if chosen wisely, while facilities like clean restrooms enhance the camping experience. However, some sites are closely situated, which can lead to noise and foot traffic from neighbors, and the presence of bees may be bothersome for some visitors.

Jumbo Rocks is an excellent place to camp in Joshua Tree NP due to it's central location. Last year we camped at Indian Cove, which was very cool but necessitated a lot of driving. For a family with an elementary school-aged child, there was endless exploring. Star gazing at night is spectacular.
There is zero cell service in most of the park, but we were able to send texts via T-Mobile statelite messaging. No potable water, so bring a bunch. The sites are mostly very small. Much smaller than other parks but neccesitated by the terrain. Fellow campers were very good about quiet hours, no late partying, etc. despite it being a Spring Break week.
The most dissapointing thing was that that capmground was 100% booked for the week, however, there were MANY noshow sites. Nice to not be so croweded if you are staying there, but disappointing if you are trying to book a campsite. People should be better and cancel the sites they are not going to use. Be better, people.

Jumbo rocks is a gem. Site 41 fits a motorhome you can use your pop out but you gotta button up real close. You need blocks to level out, it’s on a slant. There is room for 1 tent but it’s not very level, you can probably get another small tent but the area isn’t too level. Cool rocks for the kids to climb right at your site. Would stay at this site again.

The weather was pretty bad, but that’s not your fault. We camp in a van and when we left for the day we left our levelers and chocks. Someone stole them while we were gone. Also, not your fault, but really disappointing. I think it’s unfortunate that a hiking trail goes right down the main road. We were very close to the entrance, so there were a lot of people walking by ALL DAY. The park is beautiful but this wasn’t one of our favorite National Park campgrounds…
