What Guests Are Saying
The Santa Cruz Scorpion campground is highly praised for its beauty, tranquility, and the abundance of wildlife, particularly island foxes. Campers appreciate the well-maintained facilities, easy access to hiking trails, and the support from friendly park rangers. However, visitors noted some challenges with campsite congestion and occasional bathroom cleanliness issues, but overall, the experience is described as unforgettable and worth recommending.

Great hiking, fantastic trails, beautiful views, and a fun boat ride over. My only complaint was - the Scorpion Upper Campground was VERY loud. I had selected the Upper Sites area because there were far fewer sites up there and it was furthest from the boat dock / harbor area. But unfortunately for me, the entire Upper Campground was filled with 5th graders enjoying a week on the island. The kids didn't do anything bad, but they were very loud. It was not pleasant to be in this beautiful setting, only to have it be so loud that the serenity was totally destroyed. Personally, I think the website should do a better job of warning folks that 5th grade school trips happen during the month of October and be aware that it will be loud.

we visited Santa Cruz scorpion and prisoner in mid October.site 23 It was super windy. Love that the site is clean with water and bathroom close by. The trees were too big to hang our hammock. Would return again.

This campground is unbelievably gorgeous. We stayed in the upper loop which is by the group sites. We stayed for 2 nights and there was also a group of middle school students next door but it wasn’t a problem because they were very well behaved. Loved this location. It’s in a Eucalyptus grove and smells incredible. Sites 23,24,25 would all be great choices with nice views and close to the scorpion canyon trail and potato harbor trail.

campsite was great. island is full of invasive (plant) species, sadly, but hopefully the park will put some focus on that issue.

Really a beautiful island. You can't go wrong with any of the hikes. The camping spaces were large.

We stayed in the upper camping area and it was like a little magical oasis. Was easy access to hop onto the potato trail. There was a great tree on our site to hang hammocks, water and bathroom were really close. Loved the experience.
