The Santa Cruz Scorpion campground is highly praised for its beauty, tranquility, and the abundance of wildlife, particularly island foxes. Campers appreciate the well-maintained facilities, easy access to hiking trails, and the support from friendly park rangers. However, visitors noted some challenges with campsite congestion and occasional bathroom cleanliness issues, but overall, the experience is described as unforgettable and worth recommending.

What a beautiful and awe inspiring place. Friendly Rangers and wonderful boat crew during transport. Saw foxes, blue jays, ravens and hundreds of dolphins.

The NPS has hit a Home Run with management of SC. All Facilities are very well kept. All Rangers are so helpful and friendly. Every campsite is perfect. Participated in the JR Ranger program and learned even more about the Island.
Proud of my Badge so much fun earning it.

I was initially bummed to be in the lower loop after an upper loop reservation fell through for a different weekend, but was happy where we ended up! The upper loop was probably another .25 mi walking, and our spot in 21 was nice. Only tip I would have is to avoid a site right near a spigot if possible. Great time, great facilities, great staff.

Had an amazing time exploring Channel Islands National Park. Our campsite was a great location and we also thoroughly enjoyed hikes in the area. We also did the kayak tour and it was the highlight of the entire trip!

Absolutely beautiful. We stayed for 3 days and we were able to hike/kayak in the island. They have beautiful trails. We saw many Santa Cruz foxes and blue birds. You will see them. They are adorable!

CHIS NPS's website states that any dogs on the island must have prior authorization from the superintendent. I don't know how the camper in the site next to me accomplished that. Her dog, with "Service Dog in Training" emblazoned on its vest, was a menace to the island foxes. She blithely passed off its lunges at the foxes that camp into camp as "wanting to play with them." The dog had little or no training that I could observe, and would bark defensively at anyone intruding on its perceived territory. As for its owner, logorrheic is the only word to describe her. From the moment she woke up until she went to sleep, she was constantly talking. To any passersby, to herself, to her dog. All this made camp life barely tolerable. Next time I'll camp at the backcountry campsite, whose location tends to winnow out the dilettantes and eccentrics.
