We were able to experience the beauty and awesomeness of Yosemite from our campsite. The campsites were huge. The trees were huge. Sunrises and sunsets were beautiful. Just lovely....however, the road was under construction and every car that went by kicked up dust. The bathrooms could use some updating from the 1950's. It would have been nice to have a flat spot or tent pad to pitch a tent, as many national parks provide. Lastly, a group of happy campers(perhaps drunk too) decided to sing well into the night to make for some unpleasantness.

Sadly, our campsite was visited by a mountain lion. While it’s not necessarily anyone’s fault, we thought there were more warnings and trainings for bears. And we were able to scare the mountain lion away, but were too scared to sleep there that night . I understand we were in nature, but Crane flat as beautiful as it is, is too isolated. And luckily we were unharmed. Perhaps the mountain lion came to our site because of our dogs (one big one small). Either way, we drove away that night.

We loved Crane Flat! I’ve stayed in Yosemite so many times I can’t count and have always camped in the valley. Although it is nice to be close to the villages, Crane Flat makes you feel like you are camping in the forest. I also feel like the bathrooms were very clean. No bugs which is huge because the bathrooms in the valley campgrounds can have tons of black widows. We would definitely stay here again. The only 2 cons is there were tons of mosquitoes not sure if it was the weather or location but we will be more prepared next time and the water spicket for portable water needs to be replaced.
