Cramped & crowded, very loose dirt that coated everything. No grass or other vegetation in campground, though it was surrounding the area. We have been on a cross-country road trip to several national parks and this was the most cramped and dirtiest campground so far. Also, our neighbors left their bear lockers open (they had 2 campsites) and food out all over while they went out and only got a warning, which seems minimal.

Crane flat is now one of my favorite campgrounds. It’s so peaceful and quiet. It’s very forested so they’re plenty of shade. You may also see deer walking around. The only downside to this campground are the sites can be a little on the smaller side and the driveways are mostly all on a slant if you’re planning to sleep in your car. Other than that crane flat is a great site with proximity to tioga road and a general store/ gas station across the street.

404 is very close to the restroom. Plenty of shade. Site is very level for a 10x10 tent. Unlike other sites, the table is not warped. For tent campers, this is an excellent site. Overall, this campground is very smokey. Everyone loves their campfire.

Loved this site and would get it again. Very roomy and flat. It's the first one on this loop so no one to the right or behind. The next door neighbors site sits closer to the road so basically it's clear on the left also. Don't let "walkin site" scare you off. It's 25-ish steps from car to site. So, definitely a tent site. Overall the campground is very nice and clean. Very quiet, bathrooms were a-ok. I like this campground more than the ones in Yosemite valley. Crane Flat is a great jumping off point to Yosemite valley and tuollumne. Kind of sits between them.

General
- You are responsible for reading the site alerts and booking a site that will accommodate your equipment. The campground has had a complete overhaul and every site has changed.
- If arriving one or more days late, call (209) 379-2123; your reservation will be cancelled if we do not hear from you within 24 hours of your arrival date.
- Bring proof of your reservation (screen shot or paper version). There is no internet access, cell service or public phone at Crane Flat.You must sign in at the entrance of the campground or you will be considered a no show and your reservation cancelled.Make your site look occupied--leave a chair or other equipment so we know you've arrived.
- Bears and wildlife live here! Food, scented items and toiletries must be stored 24 hours/day. Absolutely NO food stored in vehicles!Food lockers are provided in all campsites and measure 35 inches deep x 43 inches wide x 28 inches high.Dispose of garbage immediately in bear-proof dumpsters or in your locker. Do NOT hang garbage bags in your site!
- No electric, water, or sewer hookups are available at this facility, however, a dump station is located in Yosemite Valley, as are showers.
- Resale or auction of advance reservations is prohibited.
- There is no electricity and therefore, no lights in this campground. Bring a light source!

- Don't Move Firewood: Help protect our forests! Prevent the spread of tree-killing pests by obtaining firewood at or near your destination and burning it on-site. Moving firewood is illegal in some states. Visit dontmovefirewood.org to learn more.
