Nice camp. Clean bathroom. Campground host onsite for a portion of our stay. Closest NPS campground to Hetch Hetchy. Stayed two nights. No bears

hike to sites can get a little crowded but still mostly good amount of space!

The hike-in sites are on top of each other, so much so that it's difficult to even determine where one ends and another starts. This is exacerbated by multiple groups who have far exceeded the 6 person/site limit without enforcement from park rangers or hosts. Many of the sites are incredibly slopey with no flat places to pitch your tent. There are only two bathrooms for the entire campground -- 5 total stalls and 4 sinks for all the women, which led to a lot of lines.

Not the Peaceful Nature Getaway We Hoped For
We were really looking forward to our stay here, but unfortunately, it didn’t quite live up to expectations. First off, the quiet hours are clearly posted, but not enforced at all. People were loud well past the designated time, making it tough to relax or get a good night’s sleep.
The bigger issue, though, was the bees. They were everywhere and incredibly aggressive, constantly landing on our food, even while we were holding it. It got so bad we had to retreat to either our tent or the car just to eat in peace. Not exactly the outdoor experience we were hoping for.
The location itself has potential, but between the noise and the bee situation, it wasn’t the relaxing trip we had in mind.

This campground is about 45 minutes from Yosemite valley, but it’s also 45 minutes away from the bustle of the valley, too. Pay close attention to tent pad sizes listed in campsites. Not many sites are level, so the size of your tent matters. Bathrooms were functional and clean enough. The other campers were family types who adhered to quiet hours and common courtesy for the most part. Take advantage of being close to Hetch Hetchy!

Site 34 - not bad, lots of space to pitch tent. Need to walk uphill to bathroom. Mosquitoes during evenings in mid June but they go away at night.

We enjoyed our time at this campground. Bathrooms were flushing toilets and clean. Campground was clean. Good tree cover. Ground not completely flat but we were still able to sleep comfortably. Long drives to some parts of the park but that’s just the nature of a large national park. Would stay here again.

Not level at all! My 23’ Class C motorhome just fit, but was very much sloped in the back. A weird site overall and my least favorite campground (stayed this trip at all 3 Pines campgrounds + Wawona). There was no where to move the picnic table to that wasn’t on a slant. Very small flat area to put chairs, but you’d be really close to the fire ring. We were very much on top of our neighbors, which was a large group. Fortunately they were respectful, friendly and didn’t stay up late. In general I noticed sites were very close to each other. This campground is literally just inside the West entrance (Big Oak Flat) and visitor’s center is across the street from the campground. Wasn’t anything to do at the campground. My 11 yr old and I rode our bikes around. Took 5 minutes to see entire campground. Asked ranger if there were any hikes or fire roads to ride bikes or anything to do. He said stargaze. Was glad we were only here for 1 night and arrived late afternoon. Would have preferred to drive another 45 minutes into the valley to stay in one of the Pines campgrounds.

My campsite was close to food locker. At night when I was trying to sleep, people were still opening and closing the locker, making a loud noise. It became quite after about 11pm. The ground was a little uneven at my site. Other than that, the campsite was nice and spacious. The men’s bathroom has no lights while women’s has.
