About Lower Pines Campground

Lower Pines is closed for the winter season.Lower Pines campsites are available to reserve up to five months in advance on the 15th of each month at 7:00 a.m. PST. For example, on January 15, arrival dates for the period May 15 to June 14 become available to reserve, and therefore, the full arrival date window would be from the campground open date to June 14. Reservation tips! Campsites in Yosemite are extremely popular and typically sell out in minutes. Login to your account or create a new account before the 7:00 a.m. PST release time. You may only add reservations to your cart and proceed with your reservation if you are logged into your account. The recreation.gov call center does NOT have access to additional sites or additional information beyond what is published on recreation.gov.Lower Pines Campground is located in breathtaking Yosemite National Park in Central California's rugged Sierra Nevada Mountain Range at an elevation of 4,000 feet. The site is situated in the heart of Yosemite Valley, an awe-inspiring landscape containing many of the famous features for which Yosemite National Park is known. Within Yosemite, visitors gaze upon waterfalls, sheer granite cliffs, deep valleys, grand meadows, ancient giant sequoias, vast wilderness areas and much more. The upper pines is where we stayed for this particular trip. Lower pines was closed early it seemed. I think it could have been open longer for sure. Upper pines sites are very close, so there is no privacy and a lot of noise. Lower pines is great.

The lower pines campground is the ideal starting point for your Yosemite adventure as it is centrally located near all of the trail-heads. The camp site is immaculate and the rangers are friendly as can be. Highly recommend staying here!

location of the camp area was great. Great to be in the valley. Not sure if you could actually fit 2 cars/family in our spot. Also the buses were way too crowded. just walk.

You must check-in at the campground kiosk upon arrival. After-hours arrivals must sign-in and return to the kiosk to complete check-in the following morning or your reservation may be cancelled.

Bears and other wildlife live here! Food and toiletries must be stored 24 hours/day. Dispose of garbage immediately in bear-proof dumpsters.
