We scored Site 1 on Loop C the night before our trip (we had been on a waitlist for months). The site was HUGE, very private, had lots of trees, easy access to the bathrooms, and the soothing white noise of the river alongside our site. The bathrooms were clean and always stocked, but no light at night so bring your headlamp! This site is considered a "walk-up," but one of the two designated parking spots was right on top of the site, making for easy loading/unloading. Site 1 (plus a few surrounding) is "tent-only"βnot intended for car campingβbut we noticed our neighbors were sleeping in their SUV. Loop C seems to be the most wooded and quiet of the Wawona campground. The drive into the Valley was only about 45 minutes, and the little town of Wawona had a lot to offerβdefinitely check out Pine Tree Market!! We highly recommend the Wawona Campground, especially if you can score something in Loop C by the river!

The campground is surprisingly quiet for how full it seems to be and everyone is reasonably well spaced out. There are plenty of restrooms so itβs never a long walk. Most visitors are relatively respectful and peaceful but we did run into some issues with neighbors that caused a bit of tension. But we were gone during the day doing activities in the valley, so it wasnβt a huge issue. Overall great campground.

Nice campground on a river. Restrooms could be cleaner. There are no showers on the campground, what leads to many people washing themselves in the river.

The campsite was nice and a little larger than some others. It was fully shaded. The restrooms and drainage sink were not too far. And the restrooms were incredibly clean.

The campsites are close to one another but not so close that you can't have a good time. The bathroom lights are solar powered and won't last all night. Be sure to bring your light. Aside from that, it's a great campground!

Take Highway 41 north from Fresno, Highway 140 east from Merced, or Highway 120 east from Manteca into Yosemite National Park. Follow signs to Wawona. The campground is located 8 miles north of the South Entrance station on Highway 41, and 27 miles south of Yosemite Valley.

General
- You are responsible for reading the following information and booking a site that will accommodate your equipment.
- If arriving one or more days late, call (209) 375-9535; your reservation will be cancelled if we do not hear from you within 24 hours of your arrival date.
- Bear Habitat! Food and toiletries must be stored in provided food lockers. Absolutely NO food or scented items stored in vehicles. Dispose of garbage immediately in bear-proof dumpsters.
- Potable water at the dump station (located one mile south of the campground) is only available during summer months.
- Resale or auction of advance reservations is prohibited

- Don't Move Firewood: Help protect our forests! Prevent the spread of tree-killing pests by obtaining firewood at or near your destination and burning it on-site. Moving firewood is illegal in some states. Visit dontmovefirewood.org to learn more.
- Help Yosemite be a Zero Landfill park! Leave excess packaging at home. Use refillable water and propane bottles, food containers and travel mugs. Place all of your recyclable waste in designated recycling containers. For more information go to: https://www.nps.gov/yose/getinvolved/zlf.htm
