Great place! I really liked that it was available as First Come First Served, while we were there. I wish there would be some places available FCFS year round, not everyone is able to plan get aways months in advance.

Nice location unfortunately close camping and everyone having campfires in such close proximity causes us to stay indoors to avoid the smoke. Health Such camps with large fire pits some left unattended still smoking limits the enjoyment.

Excellent campground. I booked a group site and was very happy with the experience. The bathroom was cleaned. The ranger was very helpful and friendly. I would stay here again.

We had a very upsetting experience during our stay. At approximately 7:30am, a park ranger banged loudly on our van and announced “Police,” which was extremely alarming. We were startled awake and I was genuinely frightened. When I asked if I could get dressed before exiting, the ranger was impatient and accusatory.
We had paid for our campsite, but the ticket was not visible because the clip on the post was broken. Rather than calmly verifying the situation first, we were immediately treated as if we had intentionally not paid.
We understand rangers have a job to do, but professionalism and basic courtesy go a long way. A more respectful approach would have made this situation very different.

We stayed at site 054 C on 8/19 during a cross country roadtrip. For the purposes of our trip (coming down from the Tahoe area and visiting the valley the next day) I wish that we would have stayed up in Tolumne instead of having to backtrack into the valley the next day, but that was my own planning fault. This was a fine campground. Clean, quiet, and for such a popular campground this site felt private enough, which is rare when the bathrooms are so close by. There’s a large lovely cedar on the site which was a nice shady spot to pitch our tent under.

Been coming to Wawona for the past 40 yrs with my family as a child and now with children of my own. This place will always hold a special place in my heart. When anyone ever ask me of any places to try to camp, this place is always my first recommendation.

The hosts are nice and the space is wide and flat. About 1 hour drive from Yosemite Valley, not too bad!

Take Highway 41 north from Fresno, Highway 140 east from Merced, or Highway 120 east from Manteca into Yosemite National Park. Follow signs to Wawona. The campground is located 8 miles north of the South Entrance station on Highway 41, and 27 miles south of Yosemite Valley.
