White Wolf Campground

The campground itself was clean and enjoyable. The dilapidated lodge, employee housing and solar panels next to it were an active public danger though! I saw a downed wire, not sure if it was electricity or phone? One of the large solar panels looked like it was about to fall to the ground as well. Another was already smashed laying on the ground.
Really disappointing considering this is one of the crown jewels in our National Park system. It was shocking to see the state of affairs; the website's description of the lodge is so far from reality...

We arrived late in the day to find that we would be blocking the vehicle in the site next to us if we parked our trailer. Stevie, the camp host, was very helpful as the people at the site were gone. She helped us with an emergency site for two nights. She was so kind and cheerful.

We had a great time at the campground. The kids fished at the creeks. There are some nice hikes right from the campground. The only annoying part was Mosquitos.

Really beautiful Campground that has had better days, but still worth a visit. Even with the lack of amenities, for those looking to camp with some privacy with some amazing scenery this is a great choice. It needs some TLC and I would not recommend to vehicles that are longer or wider then a camper van.

Great campsite… beautiful meadows. Lots of hikes. We had a mama bear with her 3 cubs. Camp host Stevie is the best! There hasn’t been running water for a couple of years, so be prepared for the andygumps or bring your own camp loo. Bring bottled drinking water & boil creek water for your dishes.

Beautiful spot for the true camper. We enjoyed our visit.

My family used to love camping at White Wolf.
It is sad that there is no running water and the bathrooms are closed. I hope they repair them, because it is truly such a special place along Tioga Pass highway.

Our stay at White Wolf campground started with a light rain that quickly turned into heavy rain by evening. This was stressful because our tent was leaking and some sleeping bags got wet. Fortunately, the rain stopped the next morning, and by the afternoon of the second day, it was sunny, though the ground remained wet and muddy. We were there from Monday to Friday. During that time, we had multiple other campers come and go from the sites around us. This led to a lot of transition during the week, with some campers staying less than 24 hours. For what it's worth, we never saw or heard any bears near or around the campground.

PROS: Site 6 is mostly level, with only a few slight inclines that do not hinder setting up a tent or enjoying the space. It is conveniently located near the Porta-Potties and handwashing stations, so it wasn't too much of a challenge to walk to them after dark, as long as we had a flashlight. During the time we were there, the surrounding area was filled with wildflowers, adding to the beauty of the overall campground.

CONS: The entire site and campground were infested with insects. A ranger told us that White Wolf is “the buggiest campground in Yosemite.” I wish we’d known this when we were making our reservation. From our first day, we battled swarms of flies, mosquitoes, and various bugs I couldn’t even identify. There were at least two large ant mounds with black ants. So we did our best to set up our tent and screened canopy away from the ants. The rangers told us the ants didn’t bite, but anyone using this site should know they were large and present everywhere.
