So quiet! Very relaxing. Perfect for looking at the stars. Staff in Nature Center and Site host were very helpful. Site 29 was a bit sloped but still found a good spot to pitch tent. Good cell reception. Restrooms were clean and working. Access to water if needed. Just a five minute drive to stores for last minute supplies. Came across a rattlesnake while hiking but it wasn’t interested in us and kept moving. Had a pack of coyotes trot through site around dinner time but they weren’t interested in us either. Definitely planning on returning to perfect October weather in 2025.

Really nice views and trails. Some of the roads have some potholes, which if you arrive during the day, they are easy to avoid, We arrived at night, so we couldn't see very well. This is not a good idea.

Generous campsites (perhaps too generous - read on). Difficult to navigate. No maps anywhere, at least not in obvious places. If you arrive late and/or in the dark, good luck finding your campsite or where the water spigots are. Oh, and do not camp more than 25 feet from your vehicle, even though you mind yourself on a campsite as big as parking lot. You'll get in trouble if you do. Overall a nice campground with some unusual, stickler rules that aren't well communicated. While this campground has the disadvantage of being disconnected from the heart of Joshua Tree NP, it does have bigger and more spectacular joshua trees than the other campgrounds.

Great location! Wonderful views in trees at sunrise. Great camp host.
Pavement is poor, potholes and uneven. Go slow.
