What Guests Are Saying
Lakeview Gunnison offers stunning views and excellent fishing opportunities, making it a popular choice for campers. Many reviews highlight the cleanliness of the campsites and restrooms, as well as the friendliness and helpfulness of the camp hosts. However, some concerns have been raised regarding the condition of the roads and water access, as well as overcrowding from dispersed camping and larger RVs, which may detract from the overall experience.

We were reserved for site 025 which is a terrible site. The spot for the trailer is right next to the road and table and fire ring are about 10 feet below the trailer which requires going down steps to get to them. (The reason "slideouts" aren't allowed at that site is because the slideout would hang out over the edge of the road - that's how close the trailer spot is to the road.) Fortunately, there was a non-reservable site (027) available a couple of sites down which still required going down about 6 feet to the table and fire ring but the trailer was not right next to the road.
Also, there are toilets and water available throughout the campground, but the map of the overall campground on recreation.gov doesn't show them.
Be prepared for lots of ATVs and dirt bikes.

Great campground with wonderful views of Taylor lake... Gracie and Mickey were great host and maintained the vault toilets, very clean. Maintenance is needed on the campground roads as well as tree trimming for better access.

These were the worst campsites. First they say you can have a trailer but what it really means is you have to park on the road and the rest of the campsite is down a steep set of uneven stairs. My in laws who have some knee issues couldn’t even get to their campsite. Also the bathroom access is blocked on the path from a downed tree.
There needs to be a warning about these sites. Also it is pretty noisy with all the ATVs, dirt bikes and Razors roaring by all day.

Great view and we really enjoyed watching all the deer that come to the campground to eat the grass.

We had a nice time however, the camp hosts in the upper loop allowed campers to abuse the rules. My sister made a reservation, 9:00 am exactly 6 months out and when she got there the host had decided to allow the current camper to stay in her reserved site. She was very upset, understandably. He thought she would like a site farther a long the loop but she actually couldn’t see any family from this site. We had 9 sites separately reserved and she couldn’t actually see any family from her site. When you make a reservation it should be honored. Camp hosts should not be allowed to change that. The camp host actually told us three different reasons he did it. He was not telling the truth on all three counts. Also, a group came in with 3 vehicles and 5 tents across from her with too many people to count. They we’re extremely noisy. They actually had yelling contests and played their music way too loud. Beautiful campground ruined by poor campers and camp host.
