The area is beautiful, with a stream running through the campground amidst pine trees and wildflowers. We selected Davenport because it was advertised as wheelchair accessible AND tent camping only. The problem is that it’s not really all that accessible. Site 3–listed as accessible—had waist high grass on the dirt path and an inaccessible picnic table. We moved to the site behind it, where the picnic table could be reached on all sides. The path to the sites on that side was very steep—my husband is a very strong manual wheelchair user, but he needed my assistance. This defeats the purpose of accessible camping. He likes to be able to be outdoors without relying on me for assistance—and it makes it tough for us to really enjoy the experience and relax.
Even the toilet was difficult to access, since the pavement was just a small square—if the door was opened, the wheelchair still had to go from the gravel up onto the tiny square of pavement. My husband is strong enough to open the door but I am not sure other wheelchair users would be able to.
We will not come back to Davenport even though it’s a lovely campground for able-bodied people. What a shame! It was quiet and beautiful. Just what we were looking for—if only it were accessible.

The sites are not ADA. Because of this we traded sites with another group so that they had better access to their site. It wasn’t perfect but it worked. It’s more like limited accessibility i.e. steps and dirt paths not mowed wide enough. The lip of the concrete pad into the bathroom.
Beautiful location. Super close to Bishops. You do hear everyone else at the site. Be aware of off lease dogs, they shouldn’t be but there were a couple.

Great campsite. Just wanted to let others know that our girls got 2 ticks on them we found when we got home. One tick tested positive for Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever. Be safe - use sprays, wear protective clothing and check for them frequently.

Lovely visit. We really appreciated this TENT-ONLY site with no generators!!! The camp hosts were wonderful. They were located at a nearby campground and offered to bring us back firewood later in the day. Really, the experience couldn't have been better.
