About La Vista Campground - Lake Isabel

La Vista Campground is situated in a meadow overlooking the west side of the 40-acre Lake Isabel. It is set along the Frontier Pathways and Historic Byway in the Wet Mountains along one of the Colorado Birding Trails. Lake Isabel is one of the few lakes in Colorado developed purely for recreation purposes. Built by the Civilian Conservation Corps, the lake attracts many campers who come to hike, canoe, fish and spend time bird watching. St. Charles Creek flows near the campground and offers additional fishing opportunities.

Beautiful location, we didn't know what to expect, so very happy with the entire campsite. Friendly and attentive camp hosts. Very nicely kept. Our campsite number 026 did have a little bit of a slope to it, even jacking the trailer up all the way, we couldn't get level front to back. But other than that everything was great!

Very nice campground with comfortable, level sites. I had just enough trees to be comfortable and not too many to let my starlink work. Staff was friendly and helpful. There is a very nice trail down to the lake where I caught fresh rainbow trout on dry flies. Had a nice campfire and met a few very friendly people here. I didn’t use any of the other facilities so can’t comment on them. Overall a great place to stay.

From Pueblo, go 25 mi south on Interstate 25 to exit 74. Drive west 18 mi on State Highway 165. Turn into the main entrance at Lake Isabel Recreation Area, then turn right into the first campground on the right (about 1.3 mi).
