About Mingus Ranch

Mingus Ranch is a cabin where guests can step back in time and feel like they're staying on an early 20th century homestead. The cabin was built in 1908 and was operated by the same family for six decades before it became a Forest Service property. In collaboration with the Frontier Pathways Scenic and Historic Byway and the Colorado State Historical Society, the cabin and neighboring barn have been renovated to match their original appearance and filled with period-specific furniture and antiques. Electricity is provided and a horse corral is onsite.

For those looking to experience the past, this site offers a great piece of history and perspective of homesteaders way of life that built Colorado from a century ago.

Mingus Ranch cabin is a great little cabin to get away to. It is rustic and takes you back to a quiet and peaceful time. There are beds, pots and pans, dishes and silverware. A stove with oven and 2 burners. There is no water or fridge so bring glasses, coolers with ice and your own bedding for a great get away.

if you love flies this place is for you . herds of them each day . a few bees ,i finley had enough and went to peublo homedepot and got a bug zapper and safe bug spray , bleach and wipes there. used all of it in 2 days .if you sleep upstairs theres were most of the flys were , i tryed cleaning the windows but each day more would coat the edge. tryed my best to clean up gross other peoples unmetionables but used condoms are really no place near beds . made me wonder what else was gross, there was a questionable stain on the wall but i sprayed it , be ware if you stay here. the heaters dont work too well if its cold .

The cabin was very nice and peaceful, the view exactly what we wanted. Be prepared however that there is no shade during most of the day.
