Thunder Ridge

Site 21 is a wonderful site. Close in proximity to water and restrooms. Camp Hosts were very friendly and helpful.

This was our first time visiting this campground. We have a 24 foot travel trailer and stayed in site #9. It’s a back-in site but the angle is impossible to back-in so we just pulled straight in. The parking pad at this particular site is also not level whatsoever so our trailer stairs didn’t even reach the ground. It does have a nice flat dirt pad by the fire ring for tents however, so it would be a much better spot for tent camping. The women’s vault toilet was very clean and did not smell at all, but my husband and son said the men’s toilet was full of flies everywhere and would land on their bare bums while using the toilet. The campground host Sue was very nice and we saw her driving around the campground multiple times a day to check in on everyone. The trail down to the reservoir is beautiful and an easy hike. The dirt road to get to the campground is a complete washboard and very bumpy, but they were grading it when we left which was a much easier drive, especially towing our trailer. The views are gorgeous and we did get a bit of thunder and rain every afternoon we were there. Overall we will definitely be back, just never in site #9 (again it’s perfect for tent campers though). If you have an RV or trailer, sites 10 and 11 are pull-through and completely level and have an amazing view of the lake. Site 7 is level and pull-through as well, just without the lake view. There is no dump station at this campground either.

Beautiful site. We don’t often go for group sites, but it was very nice. The bathrooms were truly immaculate with very limited odor. The camp hosts were so nice and attentive. Our only complaint is the wood bundles bought from the host would not light for anything. We needed up buying two more and finally the 3rd bundle lit well enough for us to get a fairly large fire going.

We camped in site 3. There is a tree on the west side of the site that is prohibiting to slide outs on trailers and most likely would suite campers better if it was removed.

We were in space number 11. There was a nice pull through flat spot for our pop-up camper. Be worn though that if you were in a tent, there are no level places for tents besides right next to the picnic table and the fire pit. That seemed to be the situation for most of the campsites. The campground itself is small with good spacing between campsites and the restrooms were clean. There is a short trail, leaving right from the campground down to the reservoir, which was wooded and beautiful. If you go left when you go down there instead of right, the reservoir quickly turns into a really nice river worth following and a bridge to get to the other side of the river and reservoir. For us, that hike was the nicest part of staying at that campground.

Great campground. The signs direct you to go right, but some the sites are facing you the wrong direction to back in a trailer and will need to enter from the left.
