What Guests Are Saying
Island Lake Campground offers a beautiful, well-maintained setting with clean restrooms and friendly camp hosts who provide excellent service. The campground features spacious and private sites, ideal for fishing and hiking, with stunning lake views. However, access is currently limited due to construction, with a challenging one-lane road that may pose difficulties for larger vehicles.

We rented spaces 18-20 as a group, and it was perfect. Would definitely stay there again.

Awesome experience to Grand Mesa. I was in site 36. Nicely shaded and wind protected. The upper numbered sites less than 36, have incredible views but no wind protection. There really isn't a bad site in the campground. Enjoyed a morning walk along Island lake trail and later in the day at Crag Crest trail. Beautiful wildflowers and views. Trail is well maintained. Rocky in several parts.
Visitor center is closed with no information or brochures available there. Learned my info from other campers and visitors outside the center. Also took the drive to Lands End. Drive was definitely worth the view. Road is mostly gravel and has quite a number of places with holes and rocks. No mosquitoes during my time on the Mesa! A pleasant surprise! Weather was mid 60s during the day.

This is one of our favorite places to camp. The bathrooms are always clean and smell fresh. The lake is within walking distance and the campsites are beautiful and well shaded. The campgrounds are kept clean. There are plenty of hiking trails close by and lots of lakes to fish in. We hope to take the UTV trail on the backside of the campground next time we are there. It did seem to rain a lot both times we have camped there. After the rains the mosquitos come out. We camped there in September 2019 and again in July 2020.
